Shishiron gets super overcompetitive and she absolutely HATES losing (which is something I share, tbh). So it was a bit of both. Botan is the kind of person who drives herself to be the best in competition like this, and when she doesn't think she is, the emotions get all fumbled up and show heavily.

This clip is hard to watch. And yet, I still come back to it from time to time. As that's the nature of competition, there's inevitably a winner and a loser. As much as we want to see her win, we instead get to see her vulnerable side. We should never conflate vulnerability with weakness, and this moment serves to remind us that we all can be vulnerable at times and there's no shame in showing others that we are.

This tournament was a very unusual situation for Botan and the other newer players on the team. There's almost no other way that a player who is so new to the game would ever have to suddenly compete in front of thousands or even tens of thousands of people. Pro players like Dogura have been up on stages like that dozens of times, so while they're of course all gonna be nervous, Botan has this huge pressure with the least experience being in this position. And to make it even more stressful, it's not just a solo event where you lose and can move on, it's a team event where you feel like your losses "let down" your team mates even though everyone else will be supportive of course. I've seen pro players who have been competing for more than 10 years who said in interviews that doing team events is more stressful than anything solo. So yeah, it's not surprising that Botan felt a major amount of pressure with how this event is structured. Hopefully she can overcome these painful feelings quickly and doesn't feel guilty about anything.

I cant blame her man. When you're in a tournament, the nerves, the emotions, your senses, everything is on overdrive. From start to finish. That's why if you actually know how it feels and you watch these pros competing with an ice cold demeanor, you can tell how freaking amazing they really are. A win is gonna be the biggest dopamine you'll experience, but if you lose, the slump will be one of the worse things ever. Especially in fighting games, there's so much at stake and you got no team to back you up. Its all on you. It wasn't her fault. She did well, but if she thought it was her fault (which most likely what happened), its gonna crash down on you like a mfer. I can't blame her.
