Same thing happened to me. Some random asshole on Facebook took my art and erased my watermark (very poorly) and spread it around art communities to try and sell it. I never use Facebook because it's stupid, but after I deleted all my art on Instagram (because of the AI bullshit) they deleted their account. People are stuff fucking toddlers when it comes to art idk why

This was over 10 years ago, but I had a teenager do this crap to me. Kept tracing my stuff and kept passing off my sona as hers, after changing 1 color on the design. I had other harassment/stalking that was going on at the time and my mental health took a nosedive. Not fun. This kind of stalking/harassment isn't fun, and that's just what it is. Yuki knows Riku is uncomfortable and unhappy with her behavior, but does it anyway. People like this know damn well what they're doing. I think they enjoy ignoring peoples' boundaries. They're trash. I can't think of them any differently.

I do agree with the tracing and design rip off, but if its something as mundane as a pose, hair cut, or elements, it feels like a slippery slope. Nothing is original in our modern days, almost everything has been done, and it seems like a creative killer if i cant lets say have a sitting pose i redraw because its "copywritten" now. It seems capitalistic and gatekeep. Its nothing like having a concept like closed species or drawing a whole outfit exact.

They should add a feature where when you restrict, block, and ban an account. Their other/extra accounts will also be banned. Meta does this with instagram. So it becomes really useful. Behind the scenes of it; not only that you blocked/banned their main account, their extra accounts (even in different emails) will also be banned - thats because all accounts are under the same IP Address. Even if they do VPN, it’s going to drain their money lots.

look, it’s fine to try and have a similar artstyle to someone because you admire them. no one can have a completely original artstyle, of course, and you have to have some type of inspiration. i hate when people say “omg, copier.” call them tracer, something else. copying can be a form of practice to achieve styles, and to learn things like anatomy. you can find a style later, NO ONE ever STRAIGHT comes out of the artist womb KNOWING HOW TO STYLIZE. copying is great, for practice. credit, show proof it isn’t copied, that stuff- if you’re gonna post it. you should only post original art in my opinion, but copying can be normal. never ever say copying is bad.

So we can't copy styles from artists that we like now? That's wrong? The only things I see in common in 3:07 are the bangs and chin angle. Not hair color. Was it traced? Clearly - but only the chin angle and maybe the neck. It's not even the same theme. it passes the "squint" test in every other aspect. Half the reason AI is as powerful as it is, is because **everybody** draws anime style. That data set was engorged on launch. Maybe folks should just abandon anime style, because it is really hard to this style make look right by just by accident, and some artists too territorial over trivial differences.

Now you can't have a curls coming out of the sides, too? As someone who likes fanart and dressing up as other people's characters for fun on IMVU, I obsess over other people's designs. Some designs just work. Its like trying to make changes to a baking recipe - design is very unforgiving, and just adding 20 eggs or a gallon of milk to a bread recipe to "make it your own" will not allow the bread to "rise". Character design is the same way - especially if you've fallen in love with it. It is really hard to just "make it your own" without making it look ugly. But I make the effort to change things. It can take months, if not years for me to just "like" my own changes enough so that I'm used to them. I make a changes so that it is as different as possible. If I like the silhouette, I'll make the silloette represent something else. I change patterns. Some colors. I **try** not to rip. And yet, people are protective over the most banal things. I don't get inspired from within, but by other people. I consider myself an AI in a sense - I can only be inspired and build upon other people's work. "Uniqueness" can develop overtime, but it can take years of tweaking and for enough mistakes to creep by accident before that happens. Silhouettes I can understand wanting to protect - the rules of character design dictate that silloetes are one of the most defining characteristics of a design, even before color. But swirls? Guidlines used outside the intended purpose? This territoriality makes me scared shizless to even use inspiration. It's almost like the only artists who are safe to take inspiration from are artists under big studios with anime on Crunchroll.

@@CRanunculus this person is a tracer and a stalker. its one thing to have a similar style however if you overlap the tracers art and the original artists its almost ALWAYS 1 to 1. what makes this bad especially is theyre tracing over commissions. someone spent 300+ usd to get the original artist to make a model for them only to have someone trace all their work, swap the genre and add 2 or so extra things so its not blatantly obvious and then claim it as their own work and freak out when people rightfully call them out. im assuming you arent an artist which explains why you dont see the issue. they can change a few things about the art/design but does that instantly mean its okay even though all of it except 3-4 details are traced?

because its tracing from a commission plus this person is a stalker??? the art style isnt the problem, its that theyre tracing over someones commission that they probably spent 300+ usd on and passing it off as their own original creation. that is by definition stealing. you can overlap all of the art by this person to the original artist and it is ALL almost 1 to 1. they purposefully make new accounts to stalk the original artist instead of just going about their day and drawing their own things. this isnt about copying poses either, its just straight tracing.

Unpopular opinion here. Imagine having an anime character with long ears or bangs and somehow that's copyrighted. If it was one on one traced sure. That's garbage. But literally these characters don't look the same. This is making hay out of horseshit and vtubers in general seem to love to complain about "art theft" when literally 90 percent of the models are anime characters. Like I'm sorry, because obviously ai and art theft is a shit thing to do but when that happens you take legal action. If it's truly a brand that's important to you, you should have copyrighted the design. It sucks.
