I bought half a mk3 golf gti for £200 and repaired my written off gti. Drilling spot welds was the only tedious thing. Used the inner wheel arch, rear quarter and the “B” pillar ( cut and joined mid way through the drivers sill) it took me 3 months but I saved a fortune. Mig plugged the drilled spot welds. Everyone was astonished that it came out so nice🤷♂️🤷♂️🤣. Respect guys👊🏻👏🏻

@sohailmaqbool32913 жыл бұрын
100% agreed
@houseofno3 жыл бұрын
There are some risks to trying to reusing such a bashed up panel. First of all, hammering out the dents on a panel is only cost effective to a point. You could be spending more on labor than in just replacing a panel. Secondly, when steel bends, it tends to be very compromised in strength compared to its before crash condition. You can't restore this strength by "tapping out the dents." Replacing the panel was the right call for restoring this car not only to its factory condition, but also returning that portion of the car back to original passenger safety specs. Try bending a steel paper clip repeatedly in the same spot and watch what happens. Would you want THAT result to protect you a second time in a crash? Look at what happened when Vtuned tested the front fender supports of the Mustang in the previous episode. The fire weakened the steel. A hammer can't fix that kind of heat damage either. I'd trust a hammer on a few minor dents in a panel, but not an entire panel that's had its entire structure compromised in a crash.
