VULGAR SCOTTISH INSULTS EXPLAINED BY A SCOTSMAN (NSFW)
In today's vlog, I explain some of the most common Scottish insults.
Scottish Insult t-shirts are available here: bonniebox.scot/collections/sc...
JOIN our Scottish Facebook group here: / scotlandthegreat
Scottish insults are the best: bawbag, scrote, radge are just a few of the many ways we insult each other in Scotland. If you come here and hear people use these sometimes awful sounding words, fear not. It's just the way we speak. I've done a few Scottish accent videos before - give them a watch as well.

'A face like a slapped arse' we use in England, usually refers to someone we don't like who might be angry or annoyed. 'Go and boil your head' is also used. I probably learned some of these listening to my dad who was brought up in Glasgow and translated many Scottish sayings for us, he loved telling stories about life in Glasgow in the early 20th century, a lot of poverty but he brought out the humour of the situation.

Not true at all me and my wife swear like sailors (renowned for awefull and vulgar language) and we do it in front of every single being we encounter. As much as i love this video it sames a bit tamed compared to the langauge my wife and i use around the house every day ! Although the culture envolved is certainly one i can get behind since we're vulgar peoples anyway :)

Thanks for this vlog as it confirms for me why we insult each other on my Dad's side of the family. I wasn't sure if it was just a Henderson family trait or because we are from Scotland. I know that I have shocked friends for talking to my father 'disrespectfully'. My grandpa was from Kilbernie, Ayshire and my granny was from Glasgow (Springburn Street). We were all brought up with a deep respect for Scotttish culture and music by them. Again thanks for your vlogs as it you are triggering some wonderful memories.

Trust me, you totally can. Some of those insults I actually learned from my granny (the Scottish nursery rhyme equivalent of "she'll be coming round the mountain when she comes" is "oh ye canny throw yer granny aff a bus"...like, we literally sing that in nursery as children. Scottish grannies aren't easily offended). One of my teachers used to call students "tubes" when they bugged her and didn't really care about the language we used. It really just depends on the context (if you were shouting angrily at a teacher while saying those things? You'd probably get into trouble, but if you were just saying it casually most really wouldn't care. An English teacher I had used to let us come up with our own vocab word lists for homework and he'd allow swear words and Scottish insults on the lists).
