You go, girlfriend! You can do this! I admire the courage you have. It took a huge amount of courage to get the amputation to begin with, so I know you can get past this! I’m praying for you!

I wish you lots of luck in conquering your fears, Carrie. I have a close lady friend of mine who is a right above knee amputee and she's expressed similar fears about being out in public as an amputee. She gets the same kinds of looks because people are naturally curious. I hope by taking your leg off in public that you'd be more comfortable in doing so in a public setting. Stay strong. :)

Good for you! Don't let the public and their judging looks and comments bother you, you are beautiful and your son knows that, he is right.

kudos !This coming month of October , it will be my third year following a traumatic amputation, even at the hospital, I made the difficult decision not to worry about what other people think of me as an amputee: I do not make any attempts to hide the fact I am missing a leg, quite the contrary, in Summer I wear shorts and in winter I have discovered the best and easiest garment to use with a prosthesis: a kilt. For the most part, I've received very positive comments, with a few exceptions! But I think you are doing the right thing, congratulations on your bravery and panache ! I love your videos!

I just wanna say you’ve got this girl and I also want to say that I’m proud of you and take it one step at a time and if you don’t feel comfortable going to the next level the next day, just stay at that level and extra day, there’s no harm in thatI mean you do it at your place and I am legally blind and I use a white cane or a guide dog so my disability is visible every time I leave the house so don’t feel bad about your disability showing it’s part of

I know that folks are going to talk, I don't feel like they are coming from bad place though. I know folks are going to look at me, heck I look at others both before my amputation and even now. Thats natural. Most comments come from kids, they just don't have a filter. But I am happy to talk to anyone. And so far it's never gone bad.

@@beastie_387 I have a very long residual limb. My prosthetist was concerned it would be too long for a foot on the end of my prosthesis! Thankfully it’s perfect now.

It was very helpful thanks Kerri I have been having this fear since I got my first prosthesis 6 months ago I’m petrified to take it off in public, even if I still have my liner on. I have been trying to show family friends to get used to it before I go through having to expose it in summer (I’m in Aus so have a bit of time still) good luck in August I hope you go ok, please look after yourself. 🩷
