After getting my golf mk6 2011 tdi aircon regassed, the aircon didn’t blow cold. A mate at work sent me a link to your video and said watch this and then order from their eBay store. I ordered a replacement kit, which took one day to arrive. I followed the instructions provided with the new clutch kit and after 15 minutes, my aircon is back up and running. The splines in my old clutch had worn just like in the video, so when the new on was fitted, it instantly worked. Thankyou so much, I’m one happy customer, with aircon that once again works in my golf!

Quoted just under £1000 by local VW dealership to replace AC compressor, after a little research i stumbled upon this excellent repair kit. for £29.99 and a couple of hours work i have repaired my AC myself. Highly recommended!

Thanks you, this worked perfect for my 2009 Passat. VW garage wanted 1000 Euro to fit a new compresor, luckily I did a bit of googling first. If you have a Delphi compressor and the center screw is protruding a little bit the splines on the clutch hub plate may be torn off as shown in the video. You can check easily enough before you buy this solution to see if the splines are damaged. First remove right front wheel. Remove two plastic guards, one behind and around the wheel and one in front of the wheel. Then you can see the compressor. Use an impact drill to remove the 4 screws. Without an impact drill you wont be able to remove the center screw easily. It the splines have disappeared put back on the damaged part, buy this kit and replace damaged part. Use thread lock when re tightening. It can all be done without removing the compressor.

Just did this on my 2009 Leon FR face-lift. Jack up OSF, wheel off 17mm, arch liner out T25 torx, T30 on a rachet for the little torx on the plate, small prybar behind plate for a bit of outward pressure, T30 on an impact driver for the centre bolt, without the pressure it will just spin the shaft in the compressor. Cleaned the shaft splines with a wire brush, dab of lube on the new plate assembly splines, put new plate in place aligning the splines correctly, bit of manipulation with a rubber mallet, insert the 3 small bolts with some threadlock dabbed on, insert middle bolt with threadlock dabbed on. Test a/c. Arch liner back on, wheel on. About 1&1/2 hours total as I was in no rush and it was around 30°C heat.

Some heads up if you plan to do attempt this, especially in situ. The video makes it seemingly simple. The torx bolts are usually quite stuck after several years. Especially in a climate with winter roads and salt. The bolts have thread lock compound and are quite stuck. You''ll probably need a larger lever than a your normal hand-sized ratchet. If operating while removing the wheel arch, there is just enough room, but not much more. The big issue is the central nut. If it turns with the shaft, you'll have a seriously difficult time getting it out without taking the pump out. You can't lock the shaft so you can undo the bolt. You might have some luck twisting the shear plate to provide some locking resistance, but probably not. The middle bolt is a major PITA.

@@nVnBrown Yo, if you can't get it off. You have to take it apart and get some mole grips on the other end of the shaft. Real ballache. You'll probably find like me that the teeth on the shear plate have all sheared off. You'll need some replacement AC oil

AC not working on a 2011 Passat CC. Told compressor was knackered. Was a bit sceptical as it was really quiet and was fully charged, no knocking. Did a google search and found that my Delphi AC unit has this problem. Took off wheel and inner wheel lining and unbolted the plate in a half hr.. No splines left. Ordered a new plate . Just saved me 650 pounds.

Hi Scot, i have a VW passat CC 2011 model as well and i have the same problem with the compressor. VW dealer is asking 1500 pounds to replace the whole thing but the problem is the compressor bolt. Where can i find the compressor model and make sure that this component is the correct one? Also how easy is to complete this task by myself?

This is variable displacement compressor. The compressor runs all the time and there is a valve that controls the refrigerant flow.

It’s a pain- I put the torx fitting in a drill - locked the clutch in position with a flat head screw driver and put the drill on undo in hammer mode- undid straight away- I bought this kit and it’s working fine- I reused the OEM torx bolts from the OEM clutch but used the new 10mm bolt supplied with the kit with threadlock to complete the installation

Yes it can but if the centre bolt turns with the saft you'll have a difficult time getting it out.
