Thanks for putting out this choke element "refresher" vid. My 63' Bug was sounding rough during start ups and this simple adjustment reminder did the trick.

Thanks a lot, sir! I'm working on an animated 3D model of Sterling Nova kit car(based on VW floorpan), and your videos have been absolutely instrumental for understanding what goes where on the engine and how it all supposed to move. Hopefully i'll get a chance to work on a real VW one day, seems like a lot of fun.

Oh wow, that is very cool! After I get Heather‘s car done, on the channel, I will be doing a kit car. I have always wanted to do one. I hope you’re doing well and you have a very merry Christmas.

Awesome vid Mr Slade. I researched this before and found nothing. Ironically this isn't for my VW bus but for my 62 Comet !!! I never knew where the wire came from for the choke. I ended up ripping the thing off and living with the plate wide open lol

Outstanding, I hope this helped my brother. They all work the same on all cars. I figured I would at least do a video to show the operation. I hope you’re having a great day. Love your Comet!!

Great video. The explanation of how the choke works with the carb is very clear - the best on KZbin! I like how you explain the way it all works in concert, thermostat + engine tins + choke element as those smart German engineers intended. Bravo!

Awesome video, Slade! Can we get a follow up showing how the idle screw and idle cam lever function along with the electronic choke and allow it to work properly? And why it's necessary to depress the throttle once before attempting to start?
@SladesVWBeetle8 күн бұрын
I will try to do one of them in the upcoming very near future. Thank you for the idea.

Hi Slade, this 40 i got is a solex 28 without the auto choke. I guess the 28 pic 1 is the choke one. It's fine not to run on the floor in the shop but if I get a 65 bug someday it will need the auto choke
@SladesVWBeetle8 күн бұрын
I actually have one of those sitting here, believe it or not. They definitely were set up a little bit differently than the pict 1.

being im just planning to run it on the ground just manually choking it is no problem for now but when I sell it I want it correct setup from the factory plus only the early bugs had a choke lever back then.
