This was exactly what I needed. Thanks for the clear and thorough review. I was hoping to find out how to install the needle but the odometer reset, view of the fuel gauge, clarity for how I can remove snd clean the dusty face and replace the gels were super helpful. I’m doing an electric conversion so I’m thinking of replacing the fuel gauge with a state of charge screen.

Have you ever done one from a 74 beetle. The needles is completely different and has a little brass weight behind it that Im not sure how to put back together.

is this something I could have done by shipping my Speedo to you and having you go through it and ship it back? MIne only needs the lens replaced (plastic and scratched), but I figure better to have you go through the whole thing. Let me know if that is something you could do. @lutherolaco2996 I'm not really sure. I've never done that and I guess it would depend on how bad it is. Would probably require some soldering. Sorry I couldn't help.

Very nice work and video Jay! I have a 1977 convertible that has an odometer that stopped. Also the needle wiggles just a bit. I’m looking forward to taking it apart as I now know what to expect. Please keep making these excellent video’s. I really enjoy seeing your precision working on things. I’d love to have you work on my beetle, but I live across the Atlantic…..

I have a speedo my buggy build it is complete, I will need to replace the film for the turn signals and Oil, Gen. The other issue I have is I do not have the original wiring harness so I do not have the bulbs and sockets to mount them into the speedo. Have you got a source for them? This is very informative, I now feel I can remove the bezel and clean it out inside
