To negate having to bleed the brakes unless you were planning on doing it anyway, when changing out the switch, have the new one in hand while someone behind the wheel places light pressure on the brake pedal and quickly thread the new one in. Minimal fluid loss without getting air in the system.

Hey there. That’s a great story. I may do more content in the future, but I really just enjoy working on my cars and driving them. Filming makes everything take twice as long and I’m likely never going to be a KZbin star. If something is really interesting I’ll do a new video on it. There’s a couple big projects and some Volvo stuff I need to do. The Ford transmission went out but I’m not fixing it. 🤣

Excellent video-the Volkswagen Beetle was a high quality and very enjoyable car when it was built and should not have air leaks, poor heating, or fuel smells as so many of them do-parts like the seals and vents you have covered age, and when you put them back in proper working order, it makes owning and driving a VW much more enjoyable. Not having cold air blowing in on you from the vents and having a working defroster are pretty simple tasks to do right, but are often over looked or improperly done

Are you talking about the ones that come from the heater channels? The only information I’ve ever seen shows people just cutting a hole inside the car to get down there. Then replace them with the stainless steel, flexible, exhaust hoses, 72 mm I believe. That was really not the title of my video, I’m just focusing on the heater box.

@@Misunderstoodboygenius Are you kidding me or is about derailing the post? Unless you really don't know that the tubes right and left leading to the vents the fresh air box is connected to eventually are called that due to their shape. The silver(ish) items you call "clips" in the video holding on elements of the flaps and rods of the thermostat-controlled cooling flaps you manipulate multiple times explaining how they fail open due to spring redundancy and thermostat expansion (lost vacuum) on failure.

Having a similar issue, but I'm now curious if I'm wired wrong. I'm using a wiring harness that one would more likely find on an old Chevy and need to know which of the 3 prong switch does/needs what. Pretty sure the top is for the dash light, but is left (on both switches) from fuse box or does it matter. I'm told they run parallel so I get that.

I believe they do. The exact routing may be different on different years. Best to check a wiring diagram.

If you have rusted front floor wells check your chassis members under the bulkhead because water and dirt run down and collect further down, Sit there and eventually rot thefloor.

How I did mine was to tighten up the end connections on the top and bottom stubs. The reason being was so they had full contact with the tank and gas entry stubs. I then twisted the curved metal tube until things were aligned, then tighten up everything. In replacing the gas line underneath, I discovered I need a new gas tank due to surface rust. So, I'll refine my technique. Thanks Geoff, I'm happy to have discoovered your channel. Anyway, Wolfsburg West in Corona's a great source also.
