VW BUS - Monsoon Rains - Stuck on a Trail - Horse Springs Campground Crazy Overland Adventure

Well, Hell! Lots going on in a short time hear Folks! Early AM start from Bear Valley Rd. Apple Valley CA to the Coxey Truck, then headed towards Fawnskin CA / Big Bear CA up the Coxey Truck Trail 3N14. Made a left on Grapevine Canyon Trail 4N16 to White Mountain Trail, Rough Trail. Recent monsoon rain had this trail pretty beat up. I was hoping to locate a remote campsite for the night. I found a site but got pinched off trying to do a U-turn on the trail. The ruts on the trail and a tree had me locked down, "Pinched Off". Moving inch by inch I finally freed myself from doom. I didn't place any outside cameras, I was more worried at that time about getting out / off of that trail as the sounds of thunder rumbled deep in the canyon. Once back on 4N16, you can hear how happy I was and It hit me how crazy of a trail that was. A little "Mentally Destroyed", I was quiet for about an hour after that and slowly got back to video mode. Once at Horse Spring Campground it was on, had a couple Beers and enjoyed some "Gas Station Sushi" for Lunch. Perfect timing right before an afternoon monsoon rain shower and a needed nap. For Dinner I had a Mexican Fiesta / Carne Asada, Salsa and some Mariachi. LoL Good Times! Early Morning start with a pot of Coffee and a Bike ride. I ended the video with a canyon exit, Valley views from a rock formation "Rattlesnake Rocks" and a herd of Deer crossing the road. Hope you'll enjoy it. - Larry

You really show how to live in Socal. We used to come across coveys of Mountain Quail, up there. My Dad showed me a trick with 2wd ('59 Hillman Husky) once. We filled the back with rocks, for traction. It worked! Great times.

How are you driving the bus AND flying a drone? Love your bus. I have two 1961 buses, a double door panel, and a double cab pick-up. I used to live in Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree when l was in the military a hundred years ago. When l lived there, l had a 1956 oval l found in the classified's in the local paper. I've driven several of the trails around that area. Man, l miss the desert so much. Your videos bring back great memories.

Hey Jimi! The drone is a Skydio 2, Its GPS links to a beacon that I have inside the cabin. It has a bunch of built-in tricks it does. It's a blast to use. I do need to learn it a little better (Practice). Man, I need to hit the lower desert and warm up. LoL I just got back from a trip to the Eastern Sierras and froze my butt off. Enjoy your buses and go camping. Buses By the Bridge is coming!
