Enjoyed your review. I've just gone from a 7mtr A class to a 5mtr Ford Transit Custom conversion. I got it from Orange Campers in Rotherham. Same length as the Vdub but wider. Its worth having a look at their van to compare, they call it a Travaille. 90 ltr fridge and more storage. A.azing for its size. Keep the reviews coming.

I wonder if it would have been better , if the rear door opened in a horizontal manner split in two , so you pull down the lower and raise the upper , so that in the lower one , it could have incorporated an outdoor kitchen or storage ?

Great review but you didn’t find the storage under the double seats! If you get one again, the actual seat lifts up from the point it meets the backrest. Lots of storage in there :)

Wasn’t that covered by the access flap in the boot, that goes under the rear rock n roll bed?

I think people mean there was storage in the front double seat..the one that swivelled. If not then yes, I found the storage under the rock and roll bed.. I will check with CampAway. Have a great weekend David 😊

@@davidmbell hi David, the front seats should also have storage! I keep my sleeping bags in there as it’s quite roomy. However, some conversion companies put the leisure batteries in that space so may not be usable! :)

As a long time caravan owner, what in your opinion is the best side to side leveller. I tried to use our motor mover, up ramps but all it does is pirouette around the ramp ? Don't want to bother, rehitching every time again, just to climb the ramp, remote from the driver's seat.

We have had that before, you either have to get your foot up against the leveller so it cant move back and hope it takes and the tyre gets grip or buy the LOCK AND LEVEL system. Its a basically an inflatable system, works well and can also be useful if you cave a twin axle for getting an Alko wheel lock on. I know some people use a small plank of wood to level as opposed to a ramp, you could also give that a go. Have a good weekend 😊

3rd party converters tend to use base spec panel vans as a starting point, if you want a 3rd party converted van look for a 150ps DSG highline as a minimum base van. VW Californias are a better option, better spec as standard and a much bigger options list. Im a big dude too, California Beach with 3 seater rear bench was the right van for me, huge downstairs bed and loads of room inside with the bed made in to seats 👍

Excellent review, as always. It it was an option, I would prefer a diesel heater. With the heating only running on gas - presume no electric option if on hookup, I would be concerned how long the gas would last. I would also like the option of storage for a porta potty. Knowing my luck it would be chucking it down if I needed to pay a visit in the middle of the night 😂!

We have a diesel heater for heating, it is toasty warm and the driver's diesel gauge doesn't seem to noticeably go down overnight. A much better option, leaving the gas for cooking only, lasting many outings then from the 907 camping gaz cylinder. As for the toilet, it is better just left out, inside it's own square bag with a bit of foam under the lid, turning it into a footstool or extra seat and bungee corded to the passenger seat legs in transit. I am 64 and as you can imagine, use mine through the night regularly.A very useful addition.
