Hi, ask for Discover o Compsition (same as this up video) media in my Golf 7 I lost from my media main startup screen VW logo with “welcome to Volkwagen” when key turn to ignition??? Before it show each time key tun on??? Please can you help me your advice??

AFAIK the "welcome" message will appear only if the device is in deep sleep and you are quick enough to start the car before it boots again. When you turn off the car your navigation goes to standby. Screen goes off but the device is ready, so when you come back from the store you don't have to wait for your music and navigation guidance. But when you let your car to be parked for few more hours it goes into deep sleep to preserve power. Next time you unlock the door system will start again and when you turn the ignition on the screen will turn on. If it takes you half a minute from opening the lock to starting the car (for example you need to put your bag inside the car before you start) you'll miss the "welcome" message. It was designed only to show you something while you are waiting for the system to start. If the system is ready before you turn on the engine, you will not see the welcome screen. That's how I see it. :)

I tried this on a 2015 B8 Passat. I don’t have the secondary menu (as I haven’t coded it) however when I held down the menu button for longer I heard a low beep coming from the dash, is this to be expected?

I have VW golf 2015 - error on auxhilary heater, key fob turns orange for a few seconds then flashes green for maybe ten seconds. On control panel auxhilary heater turns green then turns off in a few seconds. Is this something i can look at through this menu? I see it on your video but don't want to cause any problems. Thanks.

I have a golf mk7, 2014. The memory for the automatic window on the driver side keeps getting lost. How can I set this? Also when I put the car in reverse the side mirrors on both sides does net tilt down. I've confirmed on the settings this function is on. Please advise. Thanks

Check your cars battery if there's no voltage drops while starting the engine. This could reset the door control module learned values. Only passengers side dips - that's normal.

Yes, but it might be disable from the factory. If that case you would have to enable it with diagnostic interface like OBDeleven or VCDS.

Yes, if it's disabled then you need to enable it with OBD11, Carista, VCDS...

From this menu can you change the region of the head unit? I have a Japanese car in the UK and would like to change it to UK settings.

If you want to change radio frequencies, you need to use diagnostic interface for that. You can do it with OBDeleven for example.

Did not done that yet. But the hardest part will be finding the desired software from reliable source.

Sadly, no. By default it stays enabled. You can disable it by coding (I have a video about that shot in Golf MK7).

Even if you enable WLAN, I don't think that you will be able to use Android Auto wirelessly.

@@mrfixpl i Saw that there is a way to use car play wirelessly in a Discovery media, so I think that maybe is a chance to do the same in a Composition Media (it has app connect) but with Android auto, with a dongle ir carstick.

@@krlosmt I'm pretty sure Composition Media doesn't have WLAN. I think it's only on Discovery Pro (not Discovery Media, as I had that in my 2016 GTI and was never able to configure WLAN). Wireless Android Auto does use WiFi, but it also relies on support in the head unit. Currently, VW doesn't offer any models with Wireless Android Auto, so I don't think it's possible to "code in".

@@mrfixpl My bad...I stand corrected! I was under the impression that (at least for MY2016) only the infotainment that came in the e-Golf had WLAN (and that's the Discover Pro). I'm guessing Mk7.5/facelift changed some of the radio hardware.

No, there is no going back to factory defaults. This menu is intended for developers. If you break it - you broke it.

If I take note of every change I make, to be able to restore it in case something goes wrong, am I 100% safe? Or are some changes that can break the system in a way I cannot restore the changes?

If you find and select bootloader option you can end up with device waiting for media with new bootloader to be inserted. And there's no going back from the prompt other than giving it new bootloader to flash. That was the case for Audi MMI systems which many locked that way.

Its pretty useles if you dont mention "why would anyone want to activate this menu". Its obviously not for aesthetics so you have to mention at least one compeling reason to do this. For example: Maybe user can disable fault codes with this menu(which is false I know) Or user can have better equalizer settings in this menu.

You can, for example, ignore region and variant of the unit and trigger user selectable updates to force firmware from other region or brand or force full system overwrite.
