Discover Pro MIB2 with App-Connect retrofit to VW Golf 7, MY2015
Composition Media MIB1 was factory fitted in the car. After installation of Discover Pro MIB2 navigation system with App-Connect connectivity (AndroidAuto/Apple CarPlay/MirrorLink) many settings under Car Settings were disabled. Also rear view camera was not working and there was no navigation display in MFD and the sound was not working. After suitable coding all settings under Car Settings were activated, sound and rear view camera were working and navigation display was enabled in MFD.
For proper use of App-Connect also USB connector had to be changed.

Po vgradnji Discover Pro MIB2 navigacijskega sistema z App-Connect povezljivostjo (AndroidAuto/Apple CarPlay/MirrorLink) zvok ni deloval, precej menijev za nastavljanje avtomobila ni bilo aktivnih, ravno tako tudi ni delovala vzvratna kamera in navigacijski prikaz na MFD zaslonu.
Z dodatnim programiranjem se je vključil prikaz navigacije na MFD zaslonu in delovanje menijev v nastavitvah avtomobila, vključno z delovanjem zvoka in vzvratne kamere.
Za ustrezno delovanje App-Connect povezljivosti je bilo potrebno zamenjati tudi USB priključek v pepelniku.

Boas, também gostava de fazer, por acaso já tenho Discover pro com dynaudio e voice command de origem penso que só preciso do headunit MIB 2 mas não é assim tão simples tem se que desativar o component protection primeiro e ter a certeza que o radio tem tudo o que o meu carro tem de origem se não corro o risco de algumas coisas não darem e depois ir á VW ativar algumas coisas como o APP connect e tens que pagar pela chave, eu li isto num forum... tudo fica um bocado caro bahhh

Software modifications included adding factory fitted settings that were not available and disabling all settings that were enabled on Discover Pro, but not fitted to the car. The list is quite long. Additionally Off-road display and VideoInMotion function were enabled. And off course coding the unit so that rear camera, sound, etc. worked... You can do this with diagnostic software of your choice, we usually use VCDS.

Thank you. It should be possible, but sadly I cannot recommend any shop for the retrofit. Not because they are bad, but I do not have that info. Hopefully you will find the shop to do the retrofit.

The dealership quoted me $3,000 dollars to do the job. With parts and labor. They give you new modules, wiring, new display unit and camera (if you don't already have one). They also have to code everything in order for these components to work. It's insane.

Ist so eine Nachrüstung problemlos in einem Golf 7 GTI möglich, der ein serienmäßiges Discover "Schrott" Media Navi der aller ersten Generation (instabil, absturzreich, pixelig, schlechter Klang, kein Mirror Link/App connect) hat? VW sagt nein. Sie wollen mir das Gerät nicht freischalten d.h. es wäre wohl tatsächlich nur das Radio dann zu benutzen - Navi ist gesperrt bzw. navigiert nur kurz, wenn der Tank leer ist. Lohnt so eine Umrüstung und bringt sie auch einen besseren Klang, oder sollte man gleich zu einem Alpine Style Golf 7 Markenradio greifen? Was kann ich gegen den schlechten scheppernden Werks-Radio-Sound im Golf 7 tun? Über Tipps würde ich mich freuen.

My USB port is the older one so I've to reroute the cables to the back of the MIB2 unit. I wonder if this would prove difficult?
