Hi Rusty, These units are quite versatile and well designed. My ex and I had a 1987 Westfalia Vanagon Syncro (all wheel drive). The main drawback was the lack of power in high elevations, such as the Rockies. I'd like to see VW bring the camper version back to the states once again. Have a good weekend!

Well, like he said, VW makes a current model -- the "California" Campervan -- but it isn't being sold here in America. What was VW thinking? Go figure... -- BR

Pat - thanks. I did check a couple of VW websites in Europe. From what I gather, the price is the main reason they choose not to sell the camper version in the U.S. The European market favors small camper vans such as these and appreciate the design and quality they offer. Perhaps someday...U.S. buyers taste in RVs will change.

Hi...the Volkswagen van was the 'vehicle' back in the day, 60's & 70's & traveled all over the midwest (college in kanas)...lots of fun & good times!!! not as fancy as this one, but to us kids didn't matter!!! nice folks blessings

These folks run a tight ship! Very impressive. I believe VW is bringing the Westfalia back as an electric vehicle in 2020. I’ve watched YT videos of the prototype and it looks amazing. Unfortunately, it will probably be quite pricey.

I saw an RV that made me think “Wow Rusty should showcase this one!” I’ve never heard of a ShowHauler. Whoa! If you get bored go to Craigslist Sacramento >RV’s and search 2019 ShowHauler. $350k ! My question is who are these made for that goes SO off road they need what looks to be an armored tank? And it’s totally luxe! Wow!

Really enjoying your eclectic choices of rv reviews. The American equivalent of the VW campervan is the GTRV Westy. Located in No California. This company offers VW interior looking conversions on Fords,Chevy's, Nissan's ,Dodge vans and even the Mercedes Metris vans. Check them out.
