+Jose Bisquerra Every concept video I saw showed it with a 6-speed manual in the cockpit. I would buy one even if I have to make monthly payments for five years. LOL. I'm still trying to wrap my head around what he said: FOUR hundred horsepower?! Seriously, you might need very good traction control to launch it in a straight line. I already have a little bit of trouble controlling my GTI in rush hour traffic. The tough part is when I'm very tired and driving home in the afternoon. The traffic is unpredictable. I put the car in neutral and wait. Nothing happens so I fumble for the CD player in the damn glove box. Suddenly, the car in front of me takes off like there never was a traffic jam! I fumble for first gear and hit the gas a TEENSY bit too hard. Damn, the car just sits there spinning the front wheels. I think I'll have to replace my tires about 10,000 miles earlier than the brand recommends... I still have yet to get used to the WEIGHT of the GTI. It's a whopping 800 lbs lighter than my previous car. That's like night and day.

You could. But you'd probably spend more money and have wrong parts or at least a very high chance of having wrong parts. You could do it or you could let the genius Germans who work on these cars and know what they're doing! I would definitely go with the r400

You could even do it with a GTI or any of the 2.0T engines from VW. APR and Unitronic have stages that can make it 400+ hp. There's even people I've seen with Golf R monsters with 700+ hp.

Its a choice. For like $2500 here in Sweden. You get a bigger screen (and navigation etc if you havent already chosen that) So here its not standard. But maybe you guys cant even order it.

Can VW really afford not to build it? I dont thinks so. They have laid the challenge down in the hot hatch market of what they can do - Mercedes A45AMG for example and the rest of them, I cant see them not following through

This car will NEVER be released. why. two reasons.No 1Audi. VW own Audi its the more exspensive brand so they will not build a faster cheaper golf R400 that would be better than an RS3. so if you want a hatch with 400 bhp you pay for it. and buy the RS3. No 2. VW got caught sodding about with emissions and the fines with the americans taking VW to the cleaners will cost them billions of $ in fines so the development was stopped for the 400. and used to upgrade the cheaper cars to bring back more revinue so they can pay the fines. thats it in a nutshell!,

I'm in ❤! With everything about this car, from the body lines, interior, color, (even tho the blue one's better), all the way to the trans weight loss. It's simply beautiful. I have a 2019 Jetta S, & yes, I know it's no GTI or Golf R by any means but I've always dreamed of owning a Golf R or GTI ever since the first time I rode in my father's 04' GTI VR6. You talk about fast. My God, we would take on/off ramps on I65 by Chicago/Indiana border going 90-100mph I shit you not without even the wheels chirping. Ever since then I've been bitten with the VW bug. ( no pun intended lol) I will own one of these Golf R 400's if I have to go bankrupt doing it!.

I wish VW had used those square air intakes on the Golf to begin with when the 2014 year came out. The GTI is a great car: fast with room for 4 adults and you can still haul a fat suitcase in the trunk. It's just that I hate the "testarossa" cheese slicer gills on the front. They look kinda odd. If it was possible to replace the gills, I probably would.

A guy here in Brisbane Australia has a Mk 6 Golf R which is completelyt streetable without any issue whatsoever tuned at 450hp and is used as a daily driver, it was recently for sale for $55000

I have wondered the same thing. Most of the time, if not all, that color denotes a Hybrid. Like on the Porche 918. It looks cool and unique, but doesn't seem to fit this car. I would've picked a different color. I'd still buy it, if I ever have the chance, and the money. Lol
