The golden rule is don't catch up to your bow wave. If you do, you're essentially creating a sonic boom, which allows the water to be effectively much deeper. Maybe the other golden rule is don't go fording streams, since it's going to do a number on your car regardless.

Just so everyone knows, if you are stupid enough to plough through water and are fortunate enough to get to the other side then turn your car off. Open the air filter box. Take your air filter out and dry the box it was in. Remove your spark plugs. Keep the bonnet open and crank your engine. Any water will be expelled 100 metres into the air from your spark plug holes. Reverse this procedure and pray like mad. If you have a diesel, ignore this advice and ring a car hire company.

At 7.25 minutes an electric Volkswagen ID braved the deep, not going to have a hydro lock up on this model. But electricity and water don't mix that well?
@billeldonАй бұрын
The issue would be, as with any modern vehicle, flooding all the electronics that are mounted low, under the hood/bonnet, under seats, in cowl side panels, etc. That is what makes cars driven in deep water a total loss /writeoff.
@GP-pw5wbАй бұрын
@@billeldon yep seen far too many, even if they are repaired the vehicle muti plug connections will give endless trouble for the rest of its life. Why are people so dumb, if you want to tranverse a river buy a boat.
