I can't thank you enough for this video. It REALLY saved me a lot of hassle that appeared on my Audi TT mk1. Your instructions were so precise, that I was able to complete the job in under an hour once I had freed the locking in for the adjuster rod. Again, I am SO SO grateful for you uploading this video - you have saved me £100's in bills from a main stealer. You are a legend....

THANK YOU for this video. My 06 Beetle Convertible manual shifter cable completely snapped. This video was incredibly helpful in adjusting this! We literally did it once and boom, we were ready to go. Not a single problem. Having this setup where the transmission and shift boot are out of the car, it makes it so easy to understand what needs to be done. bought my car myself learned to drive it myself, and fix it myself. Videos like this are what makes that possible!

Oh my goodness!! Thank you!! I just did an engine clean to replace the IP head seal and then after fixing seals the car didnt shift well. Thing is i couldn't find a mechanic to do seal work or one that knew the car well enough! Learned seal job from you guys! WOW -- saved big bucks! Every mechanic i went to wanted to replace the pump for like $2.5K or more. And as this video pertains moreso to my current issue of hard shift --- i paid someone to do the clutch (was only a little weak at 165K miles) and they didnt adjust the shifter -- dont think they knew!! Ugh! This video made it so easy!! With deep appreciation -- Thank you! 2003 TDI 5spd Beetle with 166k miles and original brakes Ok -- so how do i fix the sunroof drains?? Shoot me if i ever buy a car with a sunroof again. Also have a 2001 cummins dodge and MBZ S350 - yup all diesel Faithful customer charlie You guys are just terrific - on the phone as well!

had bad shifting 1st and 3rd very close together, driveshaft came loose one day lost all its bolts. after replacing them i had no 3rd gear , it just wouldn’t go in. followed this vid and it felt great until i drove it and the problem was still there. so i got it in 3rd with engine off and rocked it back an forth to see if it was actually in gear and it felt like it was , so went for another drive and it’s working perfectly, all gears feel much better than before. thanks dude youtube salutes you

Long story short: My dad fiddled with the gear linkages which resulted in losing second gear!!! After unsuccessful attempts to make it right first gear became reverse and all the gears were messed up. As a last resort thinking taking it into a garage a watched your video. Guys to anyone who's about to do this, I used a M5 (5mm) hex bolt 35mm long and it was perfect a perfect fit to lock the gearbox. Like many people have said don't put drill bits in to lock it as it will usually fall straight through into your gearbox housing then it's a bitch to get back out. So in my opinion an M5 bolt inbetween 30mm and 50mm long is perfect 👍🏻

Wow this is the best video I've seen about adjusting your shifter linkage on a 02j shifter box. Thank you for posting and sharing this. It's a lot easier to do when it's out of the car isn't it?🤣
@Eurospec73 Жыл бұрын
Okay basically I did everything you said. I found that after I reconnected the end links to the shifter cables I went to switch the L pin from the 12 o'clock position back to the 10 O'Clock position and for whatever reason the L pin would only stay at the 9 O'clock position and I did push the shifter weight down it didn't make a difference. Okay so my problem it shifts into 1st gear okay but it doesn't shift into second gear going straight down. I have to shift from 1st to neutral than a 1/4 inch to the right then down to 2nd gear, that's the only way it goes into gear. What should I do to fix this? It's really annoying.

Thank you. I have a skoda fabia 2002 with manual vw 5 speed trans. I will try this procedure soon. Can you tell me what is the purpose and job of the white plastic piece fitted on the relay lever ? It moves when you shift gears on a metal rail . Minutes 2:34 in video . You put your finger on it . I changed this part because the white plastic piece was getting stuck suddenly and getting out of its place causing blockage no shifting in the street ! So i found a used clean lever with the plastic piece and replaced it but now the calibration changed a bit the first gear not easy to select so i want to try the instructions in your video. Can you tell me what is the job of the white plastic piece and if it has up and down positions before fitting the lever because you can rotate it before fitting. Thanks

The spring loaded cable links on my golf mk5 2.0 fsi 6 speed Are two different part numbers but look the same, 761b and 761c only difference is the wholes are 10mm on 761b and 8mm on the 761c, my question is can they be accidentally be put on the wrong cable link or can they only go on the right one as I haven’t had time to check if they can be swapped around as ever since I have had the car it keeps trying to pop out of 1st gear unless I hold it in and then I feel a knock through the stick but it stays in gear, I was wondering is it a chance that the spring links are on the wrong cable. Sorry about the long msg Already done the reset in your video which made the gear change a hell of a lot smoother but still won’t quite catch 1st unless I hold it and let it bang

Troubleshooting my VW Mk4 results: the alignment through an allen key nor screw didn't work. Much trial and error troubleshooting later I realised that I consistently got only R-1-2-3-(50/50 4) through alignment so something was off. Slammed toolbox weight on the side of the gear knob on N alignment enough to lean it to the right and lost more gears; did the same to the left and found all gears in correct position. The rest was as advertised.
