Thanks again for the video. As already mentioned by someone else, you might get 185-190 at 120 kph. That's almost on a par with model 3, which is more streamelined. It looks like VW did a really good job.
@fabriziom

Model 3 SR+ does 180-185Wh/km at 130kph, not 120. At 120kph I do around 165Wh/km. I'll make a vid on it soon to compare.
@Gresteh

@@fabriziom Depends on the rims, tire size and tire efficiency, but yes, it's more efficient than the ID.3 due to its superior aerodynamics, it has a lower CD, it's a sedan instead of a hatchback and it has a lower height that further reduces the drag coefficient. Those number you mention should be about right for the Model 3 at those speeds with the right tires and rims at constant speeds. In the end it's a tradeoff, the ID.3 is a little more convenient for european drivers due to its large interior space despite it's smaller size, but it's taller and less aerodynamic so it won't be as efficient.

@@fabriziom OK, so what? It is not any news. M3 is low car, ID3 is higher. Physics. Charging network improve all the time. So, ID3 need to stop 20 minutes and less to finish the trip. In many countries most roads are 90km/h limited. This mean 450-500 km range. Where is the problem then? Every electric car with battery bigger than 50 kwh will do the job.
@fabriziom
@fabriziom 3 жыл бұрын
@@Gresteh absolutely - model 3 Cd is 0.22 with aero wheels, and it's about a good 10cm lower the the ID3, for about the same width. So the id3 is clearly fairly efficient relative to its physical factors.

Battery Life you achieved the same result so it is not for nothing. But ok at a wine tasting some people take a sip and calculate that the rest of the bottle tastes a certain way and others drink the whole bottle and claim that they did a real test and it really tastes like expected. I will edit my comment and not say that the title is a lie but will stick to more realistic videos in the future as I will never charge to 100% and drive till 2% like never ever. The real full range doesn’t matter at most EV cars because you are not using it the way as in a test scenario. Especially if the cars switch to eco mode and cut off the ac at a certain soc... no way I will charge before the AC is off for sure

I live in New England, and some days you may only need it for 10-15 minutes, and other times you need it the whole drive. A direct heating defroster is in the neighborhood of your number; like a rear defroster that every car has. Our first EV was a 2014 Leaf, and after that we got a 2015 e-Golf. @@fabriziom (Not really exclusively for Tesla Fap, but all of you drooling over German speed limits): There is little point in driving an EV at that speed #1: the higher consumption calls for longer recharge times and leads to lower average speed on longer journeys. Fast charging can't mediate that because you usually pay several times list price per kWh, so you need to work more hours per km driven. #2: The purpose of driving an EV is to reduce pollution, so using 200Wh/km, or more, means you are emitting more CO2 than a diesel driving 90km/h! Rule of thumb, is to aim for 100Wh/km average to keep you emissions worthwhile lower than an ICE car, which the iD3 easily can do at sensible speeds. (only exceptions are Norwegians at 5g CO2/kWh, who can basically drive as they please). Still, it is nice to own a car that can do 133 km/h! It might be needed in emergencies, but it is completely irrelevant as an everyday parameter in countries with a high portion of coal power like Germany and the US. Also European governments are debating reducing highway speed to 100km/h in several countries, including Germany, as a quick fix for closing in on the Paris Accord goals, and it will most likely happen. Applause, in this case, to the Americans for keeping the 55-60-65 Limits on most roads insticated during the 70' oil crisis, it makes the benefits of EVs much easier to reap, though you need to do something about your 450g CO2/kWh grid!

In theory a model 3 could have even a smaller consumption than 190wh/km at 130kmh, it could be able to get about 180wh/km or so under ideal conditions (like the ones in this test) and efficient tires. That difference is mostly due to aerodynamic drag as the car has a lower height and a better CD. Tesla's have really good aerodynamics so their consumption is really good.
