@Gresteh
@Gresteh 3 жыл бұрын
@@bjornnyland It can be done, it will be really hard, but it can be done with the right conditions. Battery Life did it in 10:34 and had traffic, lots of slower zones due to road works and a couple of detours (that's was his actual time, without removing a single minute)... 10h will be hard, but with the right route it can be done (just in Germany, with warm weather and a route with the right number of Ionity stations)... but i'm not sure if that route really exists in reality right now, the one he chose could be good once all the construction is finished, but not right now. In theory a 10h 1000km drive is possible, but that's pretty much the limit, doing it in less time would require tailwind, perfect placement of chargers and willingness to drive to the charger almost empty (less than 3% for each stop). But if we talk about a "practical" time, then yes, 10:30 is about the limit.

Thanks a lot for the test and the video! Two points: 1. a test in a country that - sadly - has a speed limit on the highway is fortunately not yet fully comparable for us Germans.😉 2. how or why do I always see in tests of this kind a prepared calculation regarding "how much do I have to charge at this stop to get to the next charging point" in percent and not in kWh (which have to be in the battery)? Is this easier because only the charge is displayed in percent and you simply have a "translation table" where 50% battery charge is also 50% of the net capacity? Thanks a lot! ✌️

@topgunm
@topgunm 3 жыл бұрын
They aren't today and it will just become worse. The number of cars vs. chargers, and the slow charing speeds of most non-Tesla EVs just don't work to make a good charging network. Unless the government builds a ton of chargers, the other EVs will not stand a chance to get a good infrastructure. That or 1k+ KM range. The whole point of Tesla is they build SCs to support the cars, not to make money on charging like Fortum, Circle K, etc. This is why you see a ton of chargers per location with Tesla, where 5% of their chargers are used 99% of the time. They don't build for profit like the other's do. They build excessive amounts to give the customers a good "EV package". There is no point building a good buffer of chargers that are only used 3% of the time for any non-Tesla chargers.

Hello Björn. Just wanted to explain the tire width and wall profile thing. You say 55 profile tire, but that 55 does mean just the percentage of the width of the tire for the wall profile. That means 215/55 has the wall profile of 55% of 215. In other words, 245/55xx tire has a wall profile of 55% of 245. So the wall profile of two tires with /55/ with different with differs :) Maybe you already knew it, just wanted to add for those who are not familiar with. :) Cheers from Sweden!

Starting to be tempted by the ID3 to replace my egolf in a couple of years

How much do you think your egolf will be worth in "a couple of years"? I'm so conflicted. On one hand I can get a 2018 egolf (with heatpump, 30k kilometer) for 150.000 Danish kroner. On the other hand I can get a 2020 ID3 First (with heatpump, 2k kilometer ) for 270.000 Danish kroner. I don't know what to get. Get egolf now and upgrade to a 2020 ID3 "cheaper" in two to three years time? Decisions, decisions, decisions 😭

The Battery Life who did range tests 90 km/h 444 km, 130 km/h 278 km I think and 1000 km in 10h34m. He has Plus pack with 19 inch wheels and get better range than 18 inch TeslaBjørn has. Or is this because of different weather, road/asfalt quality or soething else? Anyway, seems efficient with either wheels. Good videos by both as well, thanks!

Only because of avg temperature of +14. If it would have been colder, 1st charge would not last that long and air would be thicker, using of heating, thus most likely one more charging stop (or 5 - 10 minutes extra in each of stops) would have been required. So compared to e.g. Kona, maybe 25 minutes (max) faster.
@Gresteh
@Gresteh 3 жыл бұрын
@@kenny.8934 Yes, but at those temperatures you must also use the heater to warm the interior of the car and that requires extra energy, so you will have to charge for longer to compensate for the extra consumption.
@Gresteh
@Gresteh 3 жыл бұрын
Abraxas Tulammo yes, but even then you are going to lose a lot of efficiency. The ID.3 had almost 15% extra consumption at 12c than at 18c, you can see it in the livestream, the last leg of the trip had a lot more consumption than the previous one even if it was the same route and distance.

@@Gresteh If it's like E-tron, it can draw more from Charger and keep battery charging maxed while pulling another kW or two for Hvac... I think there are even a few clips in this video where the charger is showing 101kW or 102kW charging power. Also, for fans.
@Gresteh
@Gresteh 3 жыл бұрын
@@biff2bart509 Certainly, but that only helps while charging and not during the trip itself, that's when you will have higher consumption unless you turn HVAC off. It's not just about charging time, it also affects the overall efficiency of the car, less efficiency during the trips equals more charging time for the same distance.

The 1000km Challenge started with travel from germany over denmark, sweden and norway. Wich is a realistic condition for a holiday trip etc. With the id3 it is a optimized jump between fastchargers without detours etc. So the resulst is not to compare with original 1000km Challenge Results
