I took delivery of the VW ID.4 1st edition this week and your video Bjorn has answered a lot of questions about "what does that button do?". The biggest ask I have is that VW adds the % state of charge to the instrument cluster as you also are suggesting. I do use Android Auto and I love that. I did not have that in my previous car. The ID.4 is fun to drive! And I'm getting more miles with a full battery than the EPA rating.

In the climate settings you can turn off the a/c compressor which is used for dehumidifying and cooling the cabin. That doesnt mean you want to turn off the ventilation you can still circulate air, just without a/c. If you push off button climate control deactivates (heater, ventilation, a/c)

And in my opinion, this is not a bad solution at all. Of course, there are many points that can be improved, but 90% of the menu is about settings. Most of it you set only once and then never again. It would be too much to put all that in one Settings menu.

I personally quite like theway the settings are done. You dont have to search through an entire menu for them, there just all in there place an you know where. The confusing part is the vehicle tab, not very intuitive. And the settings tab in the home screen clearly says system settings so maybe theyshould ad the text to the icon. Might just be me🤷

About the VW Golf AC. In Golf 7.5 (2018) when the setting is set to front windscreen and even if the AC light is off it's still actually on. I really don't get why they do it but they do. Perhaps to ensure that if you want to defog your window it will always do it in an instant because AC does it better than just blowing the air from the outside. Still I hate the idea that the AC runs even when I switch the AC off and the light shows that it's off. It's just stupid.

I’m testing an ID3 this weekend for the first time. I fully agree with you. A lot of things are not innovative. Ventilation/climate is always on by entering the car. Why? Leave it like it was used the last time. When it was off, keep it off. Seat heating cannot be activated for the front passenger if nobody is sitting there. I like to preheat for the passenger I am picking up soon. There is a lot of room for improvements. For me Tesla has the best & innovative UI. You don’t need an operation manual. Volkswagen is too complicated. Especially the configurator to buy an ID3/4. Pretty confusing. You lose interest in ordering a Volkswagen. Compared to a well known EV manufacturer in the US. Keep it simple Volkswagen!

From my experience the reduce ac current uses about the half of the power from the charger you are using. For example if you are using 11kw ac then is going to pull only 5.5kw if the reduce current is on. If you are using 3.5kw then is pulling about the half! And if you are using shouko 2.2kw is also using about the half! This is how it works... Unfortunately you are not Able to choose the one you want!...

Showing charging speed in Amps is not simple. High, Medium, Low is simple and recommended for most users. But I would like to see amps also mentioned, in a non complicated way, for example: Medium (16A). Most users will have no clue about amps or voltage or any kind of electrics/electronics.
@HNedel3 жыл бұрын
Everyone who has gone to secondary school knows what volts and amps are, the markings are on every electric appliance, phone or laptop charger. Even if for some reason someone is completely clueless and didn't go to school, 17 is more than 16, at least counting is not that difficult. The amps tell a person who known what amps are everything they need to know, high or low tells nobody anything

Your personal opinion, why you want functions to work in a special way or need to be arranged or programmed, is not representative for the majority of people, who like and buy an ID car from VW. Try to use a PC-Operating System just by fooling around and always comparing it like "with Apple it works like this..", instead reading the manual, as you do by always comparing things with Tesla, Mr. Ex-Program-developer.
