I heard that EV6 and Ioniq 5 will get preconditioning in the next update which is scheduled in this week. Its already impletmented in Genesis GV60 Software, so a retest after this update would be nice.

@@skyemalcolm The key with the EV6 is the lack of preconditioning since launch. It's still a very fast charging car, but knowing that possibly there are tweaks to be made to it's BMS to improve speed further (or to improve it to "as advertised") is a bit frustrating. The US software is the same as the Euro software AFAIK.

@@skyemalcolm I have a Peugeot 208 and the app is meant to be pretty terrible. But the preconditioning for the AC works, timed charging works. I can't really see what else you need. Sentry canes the battery apparently and parked by my home, the car is safe.

Seems like the AC turns off whenever the door is opened (kind of makes sense, because AC doesn't really work well with door open). Except it does so even when the AC is used for the battery and not for the cabin. Two features that didn't know about each other and produced this bug by meeting 😈. Software development is fun.

23:33 I really think you might want to reconsider how you're driving some of these newer non-Tesla EVs that don't benefit from being driven like a Tesla. Assuming a 5-minute slop time for each charging stop including charger activation, entering/exiting the freeway, etc., it makes more sense to charge for slightly longer in order to eliminate additional, unnecessary stops. I recently tested the KIA EV6, and the difference in total charging time between charging from 10% to 80% once and charging from 10% to 45% twice is just a couple of minutes. Certainly less than the additional time required to make an additional, unnecessary stop.
@bjornnyland
@bjornnyland 2 жыл бұрын
You don't seem to understand the 1000 km challenge route. Fully understandable since you live in USA and this route is in Sweden. The problem (which is actually an actual real world problem) is that there aren't too many Ionity chargers on this route. The distance from Varberg to Spekerød is 107 km. But if I want to skip it like you suggests, I have to drive 225 km to reach Strømstad. And if you study the charging curve for ID5 GTX, you will realize that it has a high peak at the bottom but throttles quite fast past 40 % already. That's why for ID5 GTX it's a bad idea to skip Spekerød. If it was ID5 Pro which has a flatter charging curve but max 135 kW, skipping Spekerød might make more sense. I suggest that you know all the circumstances about the route, the car's range, the car's efficiency at high/low speed and the charging curve before you suggest something. Your suggestion was more of a general suggestion. But remember that in real world, there's no Ionity every 50 km. My claim is that the way I drove the ID5 GTX was already the most optimal way.
@newscoulomb3705
@newscoulomb3705 2 жыл бұрын
@@bjornnyland Yes, I am speaking generally about short, high-speed segments with short charge session times ending way before the car's charging speed has dropped below even 75% of its peak. And sure, this might be the absolute ideal for that route and the ID.5 specifically, but the frequency of stops indicates that you have more rather than fewer high-speed charging options. It might be helpful to include the actual time spent charging versus actual time spent driving in your data sheet. That helps to do direct comparisons between different EVs. Either way, thanks for doing these tests. They provide a great data point and baseline to work from.

I'm wondering why the consumption is that high. I have a Skoda Enyaq 80x (AWD) and did a long trip from Hungary to Munich (550km) and the first charging stop was after 350km with a consumption of 188Wh/km and an average speed of 110kmh (basically did 130kmh everywhere where it was not limited). So seems I was driving faster, I had luggage and 4 persons in the car, I climbed the Austrian Alps, outside it was 30°C so I had the A/C running, and thus I managed to get waaaay better consumption... Something is strange... I also did some other tests on a flat highway here in Hungary, 40km each way, with an average speed of 125kmh and the consumption was 205Wh/km... also A/C running all the time. Another time in winter (February) in 3°C with 5 persons, and full of luggage I managed to do 316km (5% SOC left) with 110kmh average speed and 230Wh/km consumption, heating all the time ON, some snowy rain during drive, cold and strong wind...
