VW Lane Assist (Passat GTE) - POV Test Drive

Hape been driving passat gte for the past year. Same bottle of water from day one to avoid having my hands in the wheel in the highway. But you can't disconnect from driving still.... but a great help.

It not 14 seconds limit... but 2-3 corrections... then stops driving alone... the time can be longer or shorter than 14 seconds...

Putting your hands on the wheel then taking them off every few seconds would get annoying really fast for me, I'd end up steering it manually after the novelty had worn off. Its like having an auto that wants you to change gear for it every 15 seconds. Until the tech is perfected I don't see the point in this.

The system is not intended as an autonomous driving solution, it is just an assistant that keeps you in your lane, should you for distraction (or for other factors) go out of your lane. Other cars just beep to warn you, this one corrects you instead.

Every car manufacturer that has some kind of driver assistance requires the driver to place the hands on the wheel every x seconds.
