Just fyi there are original VW aluminum 3/4" spacers for the front struts. I bought them online. Can't remember the p/n. But you can find it in Etka. They're used in some world markets were road conditions merit them. They've slightly curved top and bottom faces to mate better. Great work 🎉

I used the same spring kit, and a 1 1/2 tall spacer on the front with a two inch tall seat extension in the back. Got 3.5-4 inches plus another inch by installing bigger tires.

@@KlaptOutOffroad If I may ask, how did you do the 4” lift? Springs + even more spacers?
plot twist more coils make for softer spring less of the coils the spring has, softer it is but thicker wire makes springs exponentially stiffer, so even if new springs have 30% more coils, but have a few mm thicker wire, they will be way way stiffer than original, tag me and il drop you an equation
@w0ffleir0npr0ducti0n2 жыл бұрын
couple of questions: did this effect your fuel economy at all? could you put the front strut spacer on the outside of the coil or does it have to be on the inside of the coil? ie: could you not just space the entire assembly away from the mounting point?
@KlaptOutOffroad2 жыл бұрын
If your sticking with the factory tire size, then there will be no effects on fuel economy. Or atleast I didn't notice a difference. I've heard of people using the strut mount from a mkv golf, and that's supposed to give you a little bit of lift, but not sure on how much. Adding the kind of spacer I used to the top of the mkiv strut mount instead of below wouldn't work as (a) the threads of the strut shaft probably wouldn't reach through the strut perch above and (b) the strut mount wouldn't have a flush surface to rest against on the strut perch. Hope that answers your question.

That's great to hear! Still running the stock 195s just because I already have both a winter and summer set in that size, but once I get new tires I may upgrade to something a little bigger

Be doing my Bora the same. What's the best place for parts? Uk here
@KlaptOutOffroad2 жыл бұрын
For myself here in the US, I used rockauto.com. not sure if that would be available over there, but I'd imagine anywhere that sells new auto parts in the UK should be able to get the parts pretty easily.

Would this setup work on a wagon? I have a MK4 wagon with stock springs in it now.
@KlaptOutOffroad3 жыл бұрын
You would probably have to get or make spacers for the rear springs since your stock rear wagon springs are what give the normal golf its lift, but the front setup should work
@tiwalterite3 жыл бұрын
@@KlaptOutOffroad Gotcha. I know there are "heavier" springs for the wagon you can upgrade to, I definitely don't have those. Figured maybe the springs you used were the heavier ones.

How can i extent the shocks? ?
@KlaptOutOffroad3 жыл бұрын
Only way to extend the shocks is to buy longer shocks. That's why I researched and bought the longest traveling OEM shocks I could find. However I'm told that late 90s F150 rear shocks will fit and are a few inches longer.
