I have the same issue. My car is a Polo E 6N. 2009. I have had the pump changed but I think it needs to be coded as light still comes up and goes. Is there a garage near glasgow that can do this for me please? I dont have Snap-On or any other tool. cheers

hi sandy, i currently have a seat toledo 2013 with the same power steering vag number: 6R0 423 156 C COMPONENT lenkhilfe TRW V278, apparently i dont have power steering but i dont have any warning light on the dash, i will test if with that code 11250 my pump, if it does not work I think it is a failure in my steering pump.

Do i need to replace my pump or not? car has had a knock and i keep getting this code 01309 which points to my “Power Steering Control Module (J500)”. All the damage i see is that one wire is missing do i replace the wire or the whole unit

I can cofirm that this code also works on SEATs - it sorted my 2014 Ibiza this morning. The garageman charged me €20. The main dealer quoted me €1195, claiming he had to replace the steering rack.

I have this same fault code on my seat ibiza 2014 (00816- Power steering sensor). Can you confirm that this code will turn that light off?

@@mattywilson1 Yes, it worked for me. Once the pump was replaced, the dashboard amber light appeared (it wasn't there on the original pump failure), the steering was much improved, though the 'city driving' lightweight feel was not working. I drove the car for 10 months like that, until I found Sandy's post.Once the code was applied, the warning light cleared and the light steering was restored. The guy I used had a Snap-On (Zeus model). All is now working perfectly 3 months later!

Hi sandy, would you know if that code would work on a seat 1.2 tdi ibiza I have the same fault code and warning on dash(power steering works) i have the same code on my pump ecu after replacing it a while ago

Hi, i hope you can help me please. I have 2013 Polo TDI and the power steering pump failed, Fitted new pump and I have this exact same issue, intermittent power steering and the Same as yourself it is easier one way than the other. I have replaced what I thought was the G250 sensor behind the steering wheel with no luck. I do not have orignal power steering pump. I have the same snap on diag machine as yourself so If I ECU code using the one Myles provided it should sort it? Thank you very much

i believe the g250 sensor is located just above the steering rack. Not behind the steering wheel.

Thanks when TRW technical(the Pump supplier) could not help we too put the 11250 code into 2014 Seat Ibiza.It worked, was it luck or does that work on all pumps?Not worried now as fault code cleared.RESULT!

Hi sandy, I was in a crash last week and in the process my power steering pump reservoir was cracked and leaking oil. I drove it for a few days with ease but the pump was whining a lot. I bought a second hand pump and my mechanic fitted it, it then blew the fuse. He thought it was a dodgy pump so we got another second hand one and another few. It also blew the replacement fuse, do you know what could be the problem? Does the steering need to be recoded to this new one and since it hasn’t it is blowing the fuse? Hi Jordan Fae Aberdeen!! Disconnect pump, replace fuse, ignition on does it blow? Manipulate wires still with pump unplugged ign on does it touch a body earth inspect wire harness? Tell me how u get on cheers sandy

Great result Sandy , new cars are a pain in the arse, worth buying VCDS , I bought mine from Australia on line , works great on VW Audi etc , also does OBD functions , cost less than £100 delivered , with the upgraded version , caliper reset for rear pad change , total car diagnostics.com , arrived quickly from them , similar to Ross tech , not cheap one off eBay/Amazon

2003 polo with the same error, expect it says G250 sensor open or short to plus. Any ideas?

@@sandyande yeah it comes as 00816 - Power Steering Sensor (G250) 29-00 - Short to Ground. It used to say open or short to plus but now it says short to ground. This is using VCDS lite.

It maybe the actual sensor is kaput think it's on steering shaft or it just needs coded properly

@@zzzyo2855 I replaced the sensor and it came back after a few weeks. Turns out my steering rack was shot and the seals were leaking which was allowing water to seep in and short out the sensor. So check that as well before you replace the pump too.
