There was total incompetence from the service team at both dealers. They thought they were fixing Audis! The Jetta's rear brakes needed to be replaced. The dealer quoted me 1200 for rear breaks, not the rotators, and another 200 to replace the cabin and engine filters.....I went to the VW parts store...rear brakes were $60, and the filters were $20 a piece. I promptly traded it for a Nissan Titan at 0% interest and another 15k off the sticker. How is VW going to sell a budget-friendly vehicle but then turn around and charge luxury service costs? Nope. Just read a report on a Tesla S that has now driven 1.2 million miles. Yes, multiple battery packs but each pack lasted an average of 300,000 miles. This is what we should expect from EVs, much longer usable life. Not only will legacy companies that have failed to produce EVs buyers want lose sales to EVs, but also we should see annual new car demand drop as cars last 2x, 3x longer. BTW, that was a Model S which has lithium-ion batteries which have shorter life cycle spans. The industry is moving to much longer lasting lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries so 300,000 per pack is going to increase. Won't be surprised to see the bankruptcies start in the next three years. ICEV sales can't drop a lot before debts can't be paid.

All because they don't want a well built one from a company that's been doing it for over a decade and has sold millions, TESLA😅
@jacobfavreault406713 күн бұрын
"well built" and "Tesla" in the same sentence? I'm appalled. Lucid is in a unique position for vehicle value degradation as they have been drastically reducing the cost of their vehicles while increasing quality, all thanks to improvements in manufacturing and business operations. As they mature, it becomes cheaper and cheaper to make an equivalent or superior product, so that allows them to lower prices. At the same time, however, instead of rolling out massive clumps of changes to the vehicle all at once (think vehicle generations or mid cycle refreshes [or LCI, etc]), they roll them out throughout the lifespan of the product, so one sold today would be measurably better than one sold a year ago, despite them being the same car. Things like range, charging speed, performance, features, handling, comfort, and safety have all been improved through software changes and hardware tweaks. Is this the best idea? Maybe, maybe not. I'm not an analyst. But does it allow for their vehicles to lose value quickly? Absolutely.

Lucid is your example of EVS, weak?
@jacobfavreault406713 күн бұрын
@@rp9674 the crown of weak EVs definitely belongs to Mercedes-Benz, with their $180,000 EQS going for ~$70-80k with barely any miles and WITHOUT the same price cuts and improvements that Lucid has to justify their depreciation. Mercedes has followed the same thing they've always done, releasing new generational model years, so buying one today is the same as buying one a year ago

Auto making is growing in the Eastern EU with lower labor cost and a flat playing field in the whole EU. Also, the third world market is big and a best buy for the buck market with the same tariffs for all.

That's what happens when you sell overpriced, unreliable, complicated junk for decades. Now they have mediocre EVs with extremely poor software. Combine that with high energy and high labour costs and it spells big trouble

The automotive market is circling the drain. And while automotive manufacturers are partly to blame, the main culprit was capitalism and its greed. After the pandemic, every corporation saw an opportunity to bend the consumer over. And pretty much everyone not only kept their prices high but raised them further, simply because they felt the consumer could handle it. Well, since Americans don't believe that we should tell companies what to do, that forced the fed to take action to control prices by running up interest rates. Well, we all know what happened next. Consumers were forced into a corner again, this time with sky-high prices and higher rates. Even better yet, those who bought cars in 2020-2022 had to pay market adjustments further complicating the issue. As an example, Four years (before the pandemic), I put 20k down on a model 3. Then, two years ago, my wife's car was hit and totaled. So we had to replace the car during the worst times when there were literally no cars available. And of course, the dealer added in their $3500 market adjustments simply because it was the only one in the Midwest. So where's right now I'd be vonsidering an upgrade to a model y, I'm instead upside down on both vehicles (used car prices crashing) and I'm not going to go get a loan at 9%. So, in the end, car brands shot themselves in the food, and there is no clear way to fix this mess.
