Hi I used to have a sip migmate welder/ The best thing I did was to rent a harf size bottle of gas from boc, I think it was called argoshield. it was a much better gas than standard co2. and saved me a lot of money I found them little bottles not much good. good luck Tony

+c c Thanks. I know what you mean. I used to end up with more holes than I'd started with. :) Found the best solution was to start with lower amps and work up.

CountryHouseGent thanks for the tip! May have to buy some more gas and try again and test on scrap before I try on the actual job! :-)

I know this is old… but just to say the video is helpful. However do not put fiberglass insulation in the cavity between the panel and body. It holds moisture and causes rust.

Where the inner panel wouldn't fit id just grind off all the paint when you dress the welds the hit it inwards and use body filler to level it,that way nobody would ever know ;) Cover with a nice coat of Rustoleum and Bob is your Auntie ;) Panels rarely fit its no surprise heritage ones are not too good,i used to have a classic Mini and they had their version,BMH Panels which were more expensive but often no better or worse :( Best bet is do as you have suck it and see and you have found that JK panels work best ;) Looking forward to the next one :)
