Hello Thomas. B5.5 Passat here. Is the inner tire rod deemed bad if it moves up and down with little resistance? It doesn’t have lateral movement in the joint tho.

I'm not an alignment guy... so you might want to check with one / a local guy. Personally I only flag in & out movement, unless the up & down was significant (that amount might vary from person to person when asked) at which point a rack would be recommended. love that tie-rod splitter, wish I'd had one on my last job... :).. it was a copper plated bitch getting that outer tie rod end off.

+Lee Dilkie On real stubborn fitting tie-rods... I still use the hammer (while the splitter is under load).
