Excellent! You cover the vertical adjuster, I'll cover the horizontal adjuster. I must say though, your fix is ingenious, I took the boring option and bought a replacement part which cost all of £1.50.

Excellent video - thanks. I found your video AFTER i rummaged around my shop for 1,5 hours, looking for something, until i finally found an M20 cable gland, in which i could ram a piece of plastic cutting board, that i had tapped an M6 hole in. Your solution was neater. After this i went straight to my PC and bought a £150 Ender 3 pro 3D printer on eBay.co.uk. It has payed for itself in small plastic things that had broken on both our cars, so i really recommend it :). I even managed to print a lid, with an air fitting, to put on the brake fluid reservoir, so i could hook it up to one of the tires with a bit of hose, to give a little positive pressure, when bleeding.

I have thought about getting a 3d printer, and have thought about using the one in my library, but so far even if it takes an hour to make a part it is still faster than printing. But I enjoy hearing of your success! well done. It is a great pleasure to fix stuff yourself.

@@bootsowen Yeah - you're right about the time. It's not fast doing prints, so it's not a spur of the moment thing. Takes planning. It's very cheap though once you get over the initial investment. But you can definitely do without it. I just consider it a tool, like my table saw, welder, forge etc. It enables me to solve problems in an elegant way, and i can put finishing touches on things, which doesn't improve function, but just feels nice. Like printing new VW badges, because someone ripped mine of the van. Plus i can keep "working", even when i'm relaxing in from of the PC :). I really enjoy your videos, and you have almost given me the confidence to replace my cam belt and water pump. Only thing stopping me is the fact that my T4 is leaking oil from the oil pump seal, so i have to figure out how to get that out, before having the whole thing disassembled. Maybe i should get the Haynes manual :).

Thanks, After having the van for 10 years or more I got the haynes manual. Money wasted. A far more helpful how to will be on youtube. The only thing that is useful in it is the torque settings. But I don't take torques too seriously.

I love the ingenuity but for future reference and for anyone reading you can buy 2 pairs of adjusters on ebay for around 5-6 quid. Likewise though if you buy new OEM head lamps they only come with one adjuster (the second one that broke on you). You have to buy the other one yourself. Luckily they are cheap and available. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the comment buddy. When the first one of these broke I was based abroad and parts for this van weren't so cheap. Sometimes, something like this breaks and I am either imminently going to an MOT test or stuck away from any motor factors. I think I did look at them online when the second one broke but concluded that I would prefer a fix now rather than wait for a part. Have a look at my bodge fix for a gear linkage! a few cable ties and a stick kept me going when I broke down in a rural place!
