You’re a bloody legend, mate! Thanks for making the video and sharing your masterful idea of using the wire to take-up the excess thread of the bolt before tightening. It made a prick of a job more bearable 🙏🏼

what is the length of the spanner? what size spanner?
@Fekillix5 ай бұрын
I bought a Hazet 600lg 13mm. It is 245mm and that worked great. It could've been maybe 10mm longer but not more.

Does the generator also have a 1way clutch on these? i have one where it can not turned any way if i block the generator (block the generators fan wings) ? if so is there a way to repair that or is it a new generator?

Did you replace the bolt with a new one? I tried to do this job for days but gave up in the end because I couldn't get to the bolt. Thanks for the tip, would love to know how VW does the job

Just saying, isn't it easier to take off the wheel and the plastic cover for this job?
@retromechanic22382 ай бұрын
@@icefire_ro on the 1.9 PD’s the tensioners bolt from that side. On the later 2.0 common rail, they bolt from back of the tensioner. You cannot get to the tensioner bolt from the wheel side

Nice work mate, new subscriber 👍 I have just started making content and know how much effort it takes especially in the beginning when it gets little views,Well done

A nice handy tip or two. Hopefully VW dealers will have a tool to do the job quicker as using a spanner on it own would really rack up the hourly rate that they will rob your wallet with. Their parts certainly do that two. Just had a new Clutch kit and Dual mass Flywheel from them and it was over £1800 all done, I would hate to see how much it would have cost if they had done the work rather than my local Mechanic. Had to go genuine down to supply times and going away last weekend.

Habe vor kurzem genau so auch gewechselt, sehr mühsam und von VW Ingenieur einfach nicht durchgedacht, kommst du sehr schlecht ran.
