Part 6 to a multipart series on a combo build where we are mixing a Volksrod, Baja, Racecar and other designs from all types of Volkswagen Beetle builds and rolling it into one epic build... I hope lol
Today we are finishing the frame head extension minus oaint. Come see how much time and plating I've put into this thing!
I honestly have approx 35 hours into this front end so far…. Luckily i know how to edit out the boring stuff!

The open beam ends. Well I’m not normal so I Would make it a time vault. Stuff some stuff from 2020. Cap the ends not to be opened for however many years. Just don’t put a vial of Covid 19 in there ha ha. What ever you do it looks like it will be done right and look good. Thanks for keeping me entertained!!!! Randy L Peterson

Hy, weld like this, I think taht it don't move away !!! You have to check if yours bolts are strong enought, (In France we have bolts with different quality, there is the standart and the most ) See you soon for the next video. Kris

Most of the bolts were for mock up purposes. When it went into final assembly, all bolts were upgraded to high strength.

I reckon some "bullets" would finish off the tube ends nicely! That is one solid front end extension. I like the "belt and braces" approach. After all, that's your life and maybe someone else's relying on the integrity of the suspension! Good work. Carboard Aided Design: I can truly relate!

Redundancy is everybody's best friend. Stretch is definitely coming along well. An idea for the tube ends: maybe some custom wheel center caps will fit? It seems like something round should be there, even if it's just a slight Arc. There is something about watching welding done on a video that is attractive.😃

I have a 73 thing chassis that I’m going to be fitting a 64 beetle baha body to. I’ve been thinking I’d like to extend the front end and 3x3s on rear. I’ve seen in other videos, people are using a kit to extend front beam. I like your DIY approach. There’s not a lot of content on KZbin for this altercation. I will probably be fabricating my own. Just trying to see more on proper bracing, because this will be an off road car.

Nice man! 100% right body takes the longest. Floor pans and chassis you can rip though in a weekend. Get you some Rust converter Ultra , that stuff works and will save you a ton of time treating the rusty areas in-between layers, and all the little nocks and cranny's after removing the heater channels.

Why use a arc welder u need a mig welder or a little mulit process welder check out esab welderd the 211i is a great dual voltage down side not alit of airgas places carry there replacements for the consumable parts I seen a couple other youtubers get a hole set up from company to try out cleetus mcfarlands friend cooper just started a channel a month ago and he go it himself one

I have a mig but it’s not powerful enough for some of the heavy stuff I’m welding. I learned to weld with a stick welder and there’s nothing wrong with using them. I don’t have the funds for a new welder and my channel is no where large enough for a company to give me a welder. Look at my subs, I’m no where near cleetus, Cooper is already leaps and bounds past me due to exposure from cleetus.... not a fair comparison.

Correct. Then if I want to remove it and put the beam back in the stock location I can without having to cut the front end back apart.

You know, I haven’t a single clue. It’ll probably stay in primer if it goes to a single color. No clue how I want that to go yet.
