Can't wait to see that thing put togetheras far as the spun bearing is concerned I had pretty much the same thing happen on an engine that had about 250 miles on it in my bus couldn't find anything wrong with the engine no metal shavings anywhere except for the one bearing that got tight play the guy that I had build my engine tore it down and rebuilt it again for free. can't wait to get my Baja bug on the road though just barely picked up an engine for a really good price for it just need to put it together and test it out supposed to be a fresh rebuild for a little off-road race car that he had but never used it. Oil pump was a great tip. I have a oil pump that leads to a external filter. When I put the pump in to check it. It was hitting the cam bolts. So I changed the bolts and it sill hit. I ended up thinking I put the pump together wrong. After checking that I had installed the gear that doesn't engage the the cam to turn the pump backwards. Flipped it and problem solved. If I hadn't watched this before building my first motor I would have probably broke it at start up.

@VWJawbreaker3 жыл бұрын
With the double thrust cam bearings you have to wet sand then down some or the cam will bind when in place which will cause cam bearing failure. I set the cam clearance the same for straight cut gears as for the stock gears, just a few thousandths.

It looks like your #3 connecting rod is a touch tight. It seems to be the only rod that doesn't fall freely like the others when you rotate the engine in the video. I am about to assemble my engine and I am wondering if this is something to be concerned about. I saw another video where they talked about this very issue and how to fine tune the bearing fitment so that it doesn't pinch the rod.
@VWJawbreaker4 жыл бұрын
It can be an “issue” so to speak, it’s like an ocd problem.... dialing in all of those little details. I did go back and adjust and tweak that rod so it fell like the others. Something about the I beam rods from AA, they seem to fight me a little more than others.

The 1915 was great for the short time it was in the car. The reason I pulled it was due to a case machine issue that arose after it was in the car. Decided to get a new case and an upgraded crank. Could have went with a 76mm with the non stroker pistons that I had but the 74mm was in stock.
