VY Commodore Drift Skid Car Auto to Manual Conversion Pt 1

Going down the rabbit hole with the Calais. Today we do a little more work on the hydraulic handbrake, but switch our attention to converting the car to a manual.
We carry out some repairs on the parts we have sourced for the conversion, as well as install the clutch pedal, and master cylinder

Does the cruise still work. It just turns of with the brake applied?

Yes mate cruise control still works. Cruise turning off when the brakes applies is a normal thing in any car

Hey mate, when drilling the dowels how far in do I drill? So the depth from flywheel being starting point how far in from there? And what were the dimensions of the stainless steel dowels?

Install the flywheel and use it as a guide for the drill bit. Once the drill bit is sitting in the flywheel butted up to the back of the crank, you want to drill in around 8mm depth. From memory the dowels are 8mm x20mm

Hey bro with the doughnut looking things for the tailshaft will the automatic ones fit? If not what are they called and where can I buy them? I’m in the middle of a swap right now. Cheers

Most auto ones will fit, however in the very last of the VY’s apparently there’s was some rust are a different bolt pattern. I’ve never encountered them though. V8 are different though.

What is the seal named at the back of gearbox?

Can be called either an extension housing seal, or an output shaft seal

@richardholten8847 local Burson auto parts. They should have them in stock. Part number is 461819P

Just ordered them through my local burson auto parts. They sourced them overnight. The original ones have a flat section machined into the aluminium housing on one end. But the replacements do not. So you just got to cut a small straight into one of the ends. Super simple
