Thank you so much. This is absolutely marvellous. I don't know Eck. To me, it sounds like the purest Mozart (key, instrumentation, musical ideas). 🎶👌💖🙏

Whatever spurious or not, this concerto is beautiful by itself. It is lucky that this concerto has descended to us safely on account of unexpected authorship mistake.

The opening theme of mvt. 1 reminds me of the finale of Haydn’s 29th symphony.

This is definetively not by Mozart, although it is a beautiful concerto. It doesn't have that grace and soul so caracteristic of the mozartian works... the 7th concerto, called spurious too, has that soul... Anyway, this is a very pleasant one.
@DavidA-ps1qr4 жыл бұрын
There is still argument about whether this was written Mozart or Eck. However, there is a 7th attributed to Mozart, so it's likely that this could be his. On the other hand listening to some of the solo violin writing, it's not usual Mozart. Anyway, it's not a bad concerto whoever wrote it.

Remarkable!

Back in the day, composers largely relied on revenues from sales of published compositions. Apparently there was no copyright protection and attributing the work to Mozart was a good way to improve sales. Sorting this stuff out today can be difficult. It is way above my ear level. Perhaps a discerning AI program could be developed. I'm guess we'll have new "mozart" compositions in the future.

The 3rd movement sounds very Mozartian to me whether it truly is or not.

There are not just 5 Mozart violin concertos??

Actually there are 8. But how authentic this is, is a matter of speculation.

Yes, there are just 5 authentic...

@@horiaganescu3948 Yes. The supposed nos. 6-8 are now known either to be completely inauthentic or spurious. Although recordings still exist, sometimes under the credit of Mozart, sometimes they credit both composers (i.e. Violin Concerto No. 6 in E flat major, K. 268 (Mozart/Eck)

@@RequiemAeternam01 I know all these and I repeat: only KV 207 (No. 1, B flat major), KV 211 (No. 2, D major), KV 216 (No. 3, G major), KV 218 (No. 4, D major) and KV 219 (No. 5, A major) are authentic.

@@horiaganescu3948 Mozart's violin concertos are simply magnificent, and I think you'll 100% agree with me. The first concerto, beginning with a galant style allegro moderato, is a delightful piece of music. The second, a more grand and pompous concerto, but yet not losing the delicacy of the previous one. The third is probably one of the most famous. Beginning with your usual Mozartian theme, in the bright and happy key of G major. The main theme of the third concerto is extremely similar to that of the aria "Aer tranquillo" from Mozart's early Italian serenata opera "Il re pastore", K. 208. The fourth begins with a grand D major theme, which gives it the name of "Military". The final concerto, in A major, my personal favourite key that Mozart composed in, begins with a forte A major chord, then a piano staccato section. The extreme musical intelligence of the work, interweaving the solo violin with the orchestra is simply fantastic. Also, for anyone who wants a true experience of these works, I recommend listening to the recording of Mozart's complete violin concertos by Henryk Szeryng, with the New Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Sir Alexander Gibson.

Sounds like pseudo-mozart or fake-mozart, however, easier to play for preteen violin playing kids, than 3,4,5 concerto.

The scoring is far too large to be written for Salzburg, whose oboists doubled the flute, never combining flutes and oboes in one movement. And this really doesn’t sound like mature Mozart.

김인숙 You're confusing this with his concerto for piano and violin. This composition is not by Mozart. Many used to believe this is Mozart but Mozart didn't write more than 5 concertos for violin and orchestra.
