Perhaps the hundredth time I am listening to this. Surely Herr Mozart is smiling on you! Really perfection and a treat to be able to watch your hands. I learn a lot from this and it helps me as is learning these six sonatas. Thanks Wim!

Thanks for more than three years of all of these music videos. This has changed my life, significantly. I am a full proponent of your theory and musical philosophy, for lack of a better term, and only regret that it doesn't take hold in the world more easily and quickly. I truly appreciate each new thing I see. Please don't change in the least bit, and do stay on your projected course...

I love how you can easily hear every voice being played on a clavichord, great for studying!

This was a beautiful concert, the lady standing and turning music, the little girl, the music, the performance, very lovely. I noticed something unusual too, that the harpsichord sounds a bit like an 80's synthesizer in the base notes. And it felt like Mozart used it that way, which was stunning to me. You can really hear that now. This music is so different now, and I am beginning to see that Beethoven was equal to Mozart in innovation, but I could never hear that until Mozart was slowed down. It's the erroneous speed that made him seem uber innovative. This really is an amazing concert, and thank you for bringing the past alive.

On modern pianos, never use the sustain pedal on these pieces, a reverberant room helps immensely..Wim is a master musician..

Maravilloso.las primeras cinco sonatas fueron escritas para clavicordio y claviicembalo Felicidades, es la primera versión original en clavicordio, siempre se han interpretado en piano, lo que sonaba totalmente falso.

You've recorded so many mozart sonatas, not only these six which are together in one video. when will you have finished with all of them, can you put all of them, the complete mozart sonatas all on one video. They have this by Klara Wurtz also Claudio Arrau...

Hi Wim, I'm finally catching up on my youtube subs! What a nice surprise. These work very well on clavichord, no??? Just spent several hours this last week working on my Stein fortepiano... in every case I wanted to ask what edition of the sonatas are you using? I have an older Mozart editions from Dover, and need to upgrade asap. Suggestions?

My 3 years old nephew lives in Amsterdam with his family; what is the best school to start his education in Baroque music, and what is the appropriate age in your opinion? P.S. I know this is an irrelevant question to this amazing performance, which is a medicine in our lives...Someone below comments that every voice is played discretely: indeed, you play Mozart (and not only) so clearly, that you reveal the musical dialogue that was hidden from the -always in a hurry!- fortepiano virtuosos.

Thanks for listening! I would ask around for teachers who are specilized in teaching young children, it's an art on itself. I personally wouldn't mind which style or tradition as long as the boy can grow on his own pace.

Mozart’s sonatas for Piano(Harpsichord)with the accompaniment of a violin. Which modern musicians insist on incorrectly calling them violin sonatas. Could you do a video on these unique accompanied keyboard sonatas. Some of them are even more brilliant than those for piano alone. do you think today’s publishers should more properly group these sonatas with the solo Piano sonatas in the numbering scheme as opposed to separating them from the solo keyboard sonatas? Very few pianist today perform these sonatas because of the requirement of a violin in performing them. Mozart intended them as vehicles for the Piano with the violin in a supporting role. Today we’ve switched the roles and turned them into violin pieces which Mozart never intended. Many of them were written for Mozart’s most advanced Piano students. At best they are chamber works much in keeping with the piano trios,quartets and quintets. What is your perspective on these masterpieces?

Thanks! Those ornaments are not too hard to be made, very slight changes make a world of difference: trills, some scales, ... and as long you stay more or less in the keys, you're fine. I think if I could make some videos on that.
@mariusvanhandel2876
@mariusvanhandel2876 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, Wim, please do that. There is a good amount of material on Baroque ornamentation style and technique, but very little on classical ornamentation style. If you could do a video on that, it would be fantastic. I am listening to the videos with great attention and learning a lot about classical interpretation, and trying to put it into practice. These Mozart sonatas were excellent examples of the interpretative techniques that you wrote to me in the Clementi video. Veel dank voor de buitengewone gelegenheid om dit gebrek in mijn opvoeding in te vullen.

No it isn't at 440 :-). The clavichord is tuned here at 408. Pitches varied from very low (392) till 463. Clavichords (as harpsichords) have no unlimited range to tune, the scalings of the strings don't allow that. Basically every city/region had it's own pitch in those days, and certainly in the 18th century. Standardization (also of 'historical' pitches) is something of our times. Hope his clarifies
