五個荘金堂の散策 : Townscape of Gokasho Kondo（Shiga, Japan）

滋賀県東近江市に位置する五個荘金堂を散策いたしました。この日は様々な表情を見せる空模様でした。
The Gokasho Kondo is a region with strong links to the Omi Merchants, and has been designated a Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, as well as a Japan Heritage site in 2015. Walking these fascinating streets will reveal a refined atmosphere, with clean water flowing through the waterways where vari-colored carp swim elegantly. In the Kondo region there are also three Omi Merchant houses open to the public, allowing you to see how these famous businessmen lived.

Just another part of the fascinating history and development of this wonderful country. From the narrow walkways....to the wider streets, and the beautiful architecture of the homes, some with no gardens to those that appear to have wonderful courtyards.... it all blends together to create a fabulous story and history of this area. 今だに　こんな場所があるのですね。やはり京都奈良滋賀あたりは　戦争の爆撃などほとんどうけていないからですかね。時代劇の中に入ったというか。江戸時代にタイムスリップしたような感覚になりましたね。時代劇のロケとかでもつかわれそうですね。心が浄化されました。日本人なんだな。と改めて感激痛感しました。

初めまして！　古い町並みが好きな者です。 五個荘金堂地区は3回訪れたことがありますが本当に良い町並みです。町並みを流れる水路も鯉や水鳥がのんびりと泳いでいるので長閑な感じがして良いですよね。 金堂地区は水田に囲まれた農村集落ですが京都のような雰囲気もあってかドラマのロケ地としても使われていて何度か見たことがあります。 今の現状が終息したらまた訪れてみたいと思います。

Fabulous! I once saw a documentary on British tv about a traditional town in Japan, featuring an elderly couple who still practiced Shinto, and the streams ran through the kitchen of each house. The carp were kept within a wire enclosure in the stream and they were fed with kitchen scraps of food and the fish also cleaned the dinner plates! It's so lovely to see the delightful houses with the carp and lilies in the streams. Beautiful video and music, as always. :)

I really like the way your camera circles around that tree at 0:24, it does remind me of a tree we always passed by every night on our way from the Kaihan line Ōwada Station to an air b & b place in Kadoma Osaka that we stayed quite a few years ago. My kids used to tell me that we need to turn left once we pass that tree. Your clip brings back some sweet memory of our family vacation. When kids were still in high school, for 3 years in a row our family visited Japan every summer. We love Japan and Japanese culture (and food :-) of course) a lot. I wish we can visit it again soon.

懐かしい場所の映像をお届けいただきありがとうございます。こちらは司馬遼太郎さんの「街道をゆく 近江散歩」や「歴史を紀行する」で取り上げられている場所で、司馬遼太郎ファンの私も2回ほど訪ねています。司馬さんは近江が大好きで「街道をゆく」では「近江散歩」以外に「湖西のみち」「叡山の諸道」「北国街道と脇街道」など、何回もテーマにされていますが、この金堂はことの他印象深かったようで上記の2冊にわたって書いています。そしてその2冊ともこの金堂の小説家・外村繁邸について書かれています。ちょっとマイナーな私小説作家なために私はまだ読んだことがないのですが、司馬さんは外村繁の作品が近江商人のエートスの結晶のような作品であり、近江商人のスピリットが日本人の精神形成に大きく寄与したのではないかと考えているようです。その意味でここを訪れて、大豪邸でありながら殊更に富裕を誇ることなく品位ある街並みを作ったここの近江商人たちに学ぶことは意味がありそうです。またこの街を歩きたくなりました。

Anna Film Production さん　早速のご返信ありがとうございます。この金堂のすぐ近くには繖山があり、西国三十三ヶ所のひとつである観音正寺、六角氏の観音寺城跡、白鳳時代に創建された桑実寺、聖徳太子ゆかりの石馬寺、紅葉で有名な教林坊など見どころがたくさんあります。ことに観音寺城跡の石垣は見事なものです。また機会がありましたらお訪ねになってみて下さい。期待しております。

西は安土城跡、北に彦根城、南に甲賀、伊賀。ここの周辺は水田しかないのにわざわざナマコの白壁の土倉回りに堀を築き水を流し入れ、商人の街なのに城下町の様に防火対策をしている。それほど当時は儲かってましたと言う事ですね。

Beautiful Anna :) I believe the canals where the koi fish are have wire across them because koi fish can jump, I have four ponds with koi fish and found them the next morning outside the ponds none of them died I put them back in the ponds and they swim away koi fish are very tough they can live outside of water for hours

京都 『八坂の塔～清水坂』の映像から飛んできました。 幻想的な撮り方に惹かれてチャンネル登録して動画一覧を拝見していたところ、この動画を発見。 50年前に父の仕事の関係で五箇荘に住まいしていました。 但し、金堂より南 （新幹線より南）でしたので、この風景には見覚えがありません。 街並みの古さから、恐らく当時もこの建物あったんだろうなぁ。という感慨と共に拝見しております。 新幹線が開通したばかりで小学校のグランドから凄いスピードで飛んでいく様な走りの列車を眺めていました。 近江商人の屋敷跡が会社の男子寮になっていたと記憶しています。 落ち着いた日本庭園と大きな玄関を入った広い土間。階段下収納・・・というより抽斗を積み重ねた様な階段 が記憶に残っています。 小三の時、父が転勤になり以来一度も訪れておりません。・・それこそ新幹線で通過する時に意識して眺める程度です。 ノスタルジーが掻き立てられます。 良い動画を有難う御座いました。 “ 謝 ”

京都の様々な映像もそうだったけれど、電車に乗る時も進行方向を見て座わっていないと気分が悪くなるたちなので、背後を映した映像が苦手です。子供たちも同じ感覚になってしまったようです。映像は美しいのだけれど、残念ながらAnna Film Productionの映像は人を選ぶようです。
