What is happening at 9:29? I don't understand.... It doesn't appear to be a swing, and it looks very awkward to my eyes.

In this kata, you draw your sword quietly in the dark and make a sound on the ground to fool your opponent. Then you cut your opponent after he makes his move.

Nice to see Japanese practitioners of MJER, there aren't that many. Plus with my ZNKR 2-dan exam coming up at the Ishido Cup I can't practice koryu.

@Proton1 Then I haven't found many of them. It's not that I can't, it's better that I don't. I'm only shodan, no need to confuse myself with little details that are slightly different between MJER and seitei

@Proton1 Oh it's not that I can't practice them at all. I know the first set and have practiced them before. It's just that the Ishido Cup is next weekend. So focusing on seitei (which I'll be graded at) is my priority right now. Sensei had already said we'll focus on koryu again after the cup and I had already requested to add some emphasize on koryu reiho ^^

@Proton1 In EKF the main focus is ZNKR-Iai because of taikai/grading. In grading/taikai they only need to do 1-2 koryu kata for 4D+. So they rarely practice koryu in normal training unless requested, but it depends on the sensei. I´ve seen shodans who still don´t know all of the Omori-Ryu.
