The color of that car brings me back to when my dad bought his first new car; a 1991 Honda Accord SE in Brittany Green. Man we drove that car 245000 miles before the ignition went out back in 2009. Not a Mercedes, but a damn good car :)

I really love those Mercedes. If I had a choice between all of them, I'd definitely go for a W140 S600. I love V12's. Just the MPG kills you..

Hey Nate, I saw on one of recent videos you were still driving this one. What lights are showing up on the dash, looks like airbag, ASR or ABS something... I agree with mrkonsimr, love your videos - they're always entertaining to watch. They're honest and what you see is what you get - Discovery should sign you up for a reality show ;D

Gorgeous car! Are maintenance costs usually pretty high on these? I've heard that these ones are a lot easier to work on than newer models, is that true?

I'll be very honest with you, your videos have inspired me into buying a W140. I'm buying one next and I'll definitely be looking into one that you have as an option, given that you find remarkable 1 owner, low km/miles ones (2 of my most important buying factors) lol! Do you have any diesels available? Or will you have any diesels available? I'm looking forward to getting one around May or June.

Nathan, you as a W140-expert, which engine is the best? I heard about some problems about the M120 V12 engine in the 600 SE(L)...also the V8 engines should be very nice...Whats your opinion? And another question: What is with the diesel engines? I am suprisend, that you dont check them out, would be interresting too, or are there in America mostly gasoline engines? Hope you answer fast (must not be after 5 minutes like the last times :D)

do you think about w140 or a r129 a good first car ?
@ej6jack8 жыл бұрын
W140 is what my first car was. but it was fair condition for 2500 and now I got a Miata since my W140 broke down on me and it wasn't worth on how much the cost was and it needed a new windsheild, engine, and bumper with left side skirt. so that cost was about 1700 so I wasn't spending money on that. otherwise that W140 lasted me over 32,000 miles and 3-4 years.

Performance wise, these cars are nothing special at all unless you can find one of the 6 or 7 liter V12's, which is next to impossible and would be dumb to spend that much unless you are a wealthy enthusiast (*EXTREMELY* expensive to repair and with a price point that you could get a very nice brand new car for). They all ride very nice. Well cared for ones will ride better then cheap new cars even. However while it's nice from a luxury standpoint, for performance it's extremely poor - you feel disconnected from the road and around if you're being cheeky in the corners with it, it corners like a cruise ship. Look is great. This one set the styling trend for Mercedes that we still see cues from to this day and not only for the outside, but the inside as well. while I wouldn't say this car is where the turning point is at as far as bringing cars into a "modern," definition of luxury it was right before that and ones that are very well cared for will still have a feel of luxury to this day even to a non-enthusiast. Overall an awesome drag or weekend car (*Not* a good track car however). Horrible choice if you need a new car and are emptying out the savings account though.
