I'm really glad that WTH2 is going to be a thing. It was something me and my girlfriend enjoyed and we used to do a lot of art of it together. I lost her in an accident almost 2 years ago and Welcome to Hell reminds me of a lot of good memories we shared. Take as much time as you need, Erica. It's finished when it's finished. man, watching you animate is actually really interesting. nonetheless, thank you for taking time to explain- even if you didn't *have* to. a lot of people that work on projects alone can't find time to say "hey, i'm sorry for being quiet, i've been busy with xyz" and it means a lot that you wanted to try and show that you were actually working on it. you shouldn't have to explain yourself for being absent, however it still really does mean a lot. i'm genuinely excited for the sequel, and i'm excited to see where W2H goes!

I'm that person who's been subscribed since the pilot. I would draw sock and Jonathan on my math tests back in eighth grade and I've just started year 2 in college. I still go back and rewatch it, I downloaded it to my phone so I could watch it in the waiting rooms of appointments, I still see old posts about it I reblogged and am reminded of how happy this ten minute video made me. it introduced me to Irish stew (the band who sang 'I will Never be your friend'). w2h changed my 14 year old life and I'm here as a 20 year old still watching your South Park reanimation and old hair tutorials. 23:09 after I figured out I was a trans guy I went by Jonathan for a year before I started going by Connor, but Jonathan is my new middle name now! Welcome to Hell is one of few animations years back that made me put down my pen and go, “I suck at writing books and if animating my stories is something I can do then I wouldn’t want to write a book anyway...” Thank you for the push your work gave me, I’ve still a ways to go, as does every story writer, but if it weren’t for you and a few others, I would’ve given my stories up altogether. I didn’t. And I won’t. Personally, I believe in writing stories and animating them to make them a reality the story teller can be proud of, for the purpose of telling it to anyone listening. That is to say, I believe only those who bother listening, whether it be six years later -or whatever number some others say this will take- are the same people who don’t care how long it takes, because that isn’t what matters. Do people not get it? It’s not about how fast Erica builds up a team and puts the next chapter out there just to make a buck off it, it’s about Erica telling her story for the sake of story telling. And I for one, as I’m sure real fanatics of her work feel, could care less how long it takes. Because it isn’t about the clock, it’s about telling a good story and loving the hell out of it regardless of there being another chapter or not. Besides, are people really gonna tell me they’re upset because they aren’t getting what they want and that whoever isn’t giving them what they want should feel guilty about that? Honestly, how stupid.... 2:40 is perfect btw

The whole thing about only having energy to watch AdventureTime and sleep hits so damn hard, I ended up making a 5 minute thing after graduating high school, it took a fucking year and a half and that was mostly done because I had no damn job. I have no idea how welcome to hell got made in such a damn short time regardless of help, I had infinite time and yet working on the project still felt like hell. Yet the second I did get a job, when I got home at 2:30 a clock I just wanted to lay down and get depressed I'm not doing what I actually want to do. I have no idea how people make fun of art degrees and turn around and expect solo animators to shit out 10 minutes worth of content a year, sucks.

Welcome to Hell still sits in my heart as one of my most treasured memories of animated Pilots on the internet, it's funny, quirky, whilst still reaching the serious level of animation and story that makes it feel as though it could've easily been ripped straight from Cartoon Network or any other big brand cartoon tv company. I forgot about w2h for years and then one day it popped back into my head, like, months ago. So I’ve been rewatching it and absolutely adoring it pretty frequently over the past few months. No matter how long it takes to make episode two I assure you the people who love w2h will absolutely love it. I’m thrilled by the thought of an episode two and I’m sure it’ll be incredible. Listened to this twice. I write (Not well apparently) and I read something in a preface by Arthur C. Clarke and was surprised it took him like 7 years to perfect one of his early novels. When he got published he wasn't satisfied with it. That was "just" writing so I can't imagine animating as well. I would wish you luck but I'm sure your skill will beat luck anyway. Looking forward to your next video. Wrote like sixteen comments while watching this and this was the best I could come up with.

as someone who's been around for the whole ride, i completely understand. i was in highschool when w2h came out and when you announced w2h 2 i just assumed it was a lot of work so I was like "cool, alright take your time." now i'm in art school looking over at my peers in computer animation and wow yeah. fucking nuts dude, props to you for sticking it through!

I really love W2H (I just now got into it lol) and I'm glad that W2H2 is going to be a thing!! Animation takes *A TON* of time, especially for a lone animator, it'll take 2 or more years to put out. I really want to read the web comic so if I could find it on somewhere other than DA that'd be great!

I appreciate you coming out and saying something. I wasn't hanging on your every word - i grew up learning about animation as a process, and i understand how long it takes and how things get in the way and yadda yadda yadda - but it's nice to hear something. You are literally "the person i know as the one who made Welcome to Hell" and it's still impressive as a short to this day. Granted, that's probably an indication that i'm easy to please, i still think it's good to allow creators time to create. Life isn't going to go away, but neither is the potential project, and you can only produce the right quality under the right working conditions. If that means answering questions, then sorry i don't really have any ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I don't want you thinking i'm breathing down your neck just because you haven't put out W2H2: if you put it out, i want it to be because you are done with it. Whether that's because you can't stand to look at it anymore, or because you legitimately think you can't improve anymore, or you don't put it out and concede that point i will accept what comes from your keeping it in mind. I saw your post a while back that you were making the second one but after a while I assumed you forgot about it xD im not saying this in a bad way I know how long it takes (I animated a short video and it's certainly not as good as yours but it took me like a month ) so I wasn't judging . I came to peace with the thought that you might never finish it because I like the original anyway . But it's very nice to know your working on it . It really really makes me happy! :)

Idk I’m rambling just know some of us really have been subbed throughout it all

i literally just watched an animated music video that took the creators over six years to complete. like to put it in perspective- they had the characters and audio created for them in advance. and it still took 6+ years. like. i’m still impressed you did the first animation yourself lol

it shouldnt matter when w2h2 comes out. the reason i stayed subscribed for so long is because i know good content takes good time and work and care, something you clearly have for your characters. every time i remember w2h it makes me smile, its a bit of a nostalgic comfort to me as a media. so take your time. youre such an inspiration to aspiring animators everywhere and we all love what you do

I remember seeing W2H years ago when I was in Highschool and thinking it was so crazy cool. I always wanted to make art or write a story and W2H was one of the many things that inspired me more. Now I’m majoring in Illustration and planning declare a minor in glass and creative writing :P Oh how turnt the tables are.

God I think welcome to hell is going to forever be this checkpoint in my life. I still revisit the first film, Sock was still my first official cosplay I ever did, and the reason I have like half of my subs is because I made meme videos of Welcome to Hell and honestly I will be forever greatful for this animation.
