@@Wish4Fish hey Ken. Got a fly fishing question maybe you can help me out. Think Catskills size river (not sure if you have been on the Esopus) but there is a tricky current that i dont know how to get a good drift on. Wide flat riffle narrows to a fast ripping white water into a plunge pool smacking the right bank, creating a counterclock spinning LARGE slow eddy on the inside left bank. Do i fish this eddy drifting backwards? If i wade into the eddy to fish the seam i spook all the fish. I managed to pull 1 out of there but really should have pulled out 6-10. Thanks for reading my long winded Q.

I would be more than happy to help. Contact me through my website so we can get the conversation going. Wish4Fish.com

The short answer is yes. Fish the back eddy drifting it backwards. If you watch the video again you can see me fishing back eddys drifting it upstream a couple times. Although I would have to see this stream / scenario to know how I would approach it.

@@Wish4Fish I see lol! That's still an epic float of PRIME water in the middle of HOT cicada season. That’s what it’s all about. I think the Green is a great place to teach people that are new to the sport. Obviously a better caster will go a long way but on the Green it’s not a deal breaker if you can’t cast well. Plus with the water clarity you can see a lot of what’s going on. It’s so beautiful there that just floating it is a fantastic trip. That’s great that you got to pass the torch to the next generation. Thank you very much for the kind words and support.

So the trout on the green river are poisonous? Everybody throws there fish back. Does anybody eat trout anymore?
@Wish4Fish3 жыл бұрын
Not sure what the limits are on the Green but I’m catch and release so it doesn’t matter. Sure I will keep a trout every once a decade but it’s definitely not gonna be a 20in breeder trout like these.
@leeeng4783 жыл бұрын
@@Wish4Fish Fishing is catching. Jesus never threw a fish back. LIBERALS ruining everything for everybody. Why put a hook in a fishes mouth and torture it if you are not gonna eat it! To top it off they are not even native fish there GERMAN browns.
@dragonbob29243 жыл бұрын
@@leeeng478 If everyone had the same ideology, there would be no more fish. Either that or the bag limit would be way lower. Fisheries like this are sustainable because of catch and release. Hundreds fish that river every week, if every person who fished that river limited out, the fish would be gone in a month. Also, catch and release is hardly a liberal idea.
@leeeng4783 жыл бұрын
@@dragonbob2924 That's total BULL. People have been catching fish for thousands of years. Catch and release is a sickness! Your catching PLANTER German Browns! The big dams ruined all the fish runs so hatcheries planted millions of fish for the General public to catch and eat fish. Under your mentality don't eat cows or pigs or they will go extinct. Its real simple fish and game needs to plant more fish as per there original guidelines when they built the dams and ruined the natural fishery. Sharing a fish that's crazy!
@dragonbob29243 жыл бұрын
@@leeeng478 Your right about everything being ruined. Maybe way back then it would be sustainable for a small population of people to survive off of wild reproducing fish. But things have changed now, the rivers are dammed and some are damaged beyond repair. Until it goes back to the way it was centuries ago. Catch and release is needed to a certain extent, especially for species like bass, walleye, or striped bass, which don't get stocked. You can that in countries where people keep everything, the fishing is much worse.
