For anyone wondering about the mirror hack: because the string is looped around the nail on the wall and through the hook on the back of the mirror, when you pull the string ends the mirror slides down the length of the string and directly onto the nail. Hope that helps!
@xocarissag Жыл бұрын
thats actually such a genius hack bc i always struggle with that when hanging things up and end up scratching the wall.

I have seen something similar with a fork. Slip the tines over the nail then slip your hanger over the handle of the fork. Slide it all the way down the handle over the tines and onto the screw and then just pull out the fork.

You COULD have given Wendy the best of both worlds with those cabinets. A hinge. Either attach a piece of wood to the ceiling (Also a way to solve the uneven ceiling issue invisibly), and have hinges that swing upward (this is better/safer for the person using it); or attach hinges to the top of the cabinets that swing out toward the floor. It allows the empty space to be utilized and still have that beautiful built in look you're going for.
@star.drawntreader.1967 Жыл бұрын
I thought that Alexandra's choice is gorgeous, sturdy, and very practical in keeping with the purpose of the unit. Obviously, she didn't think of your solution. Or, if she did, she didn't choose to use it this time. (I've just remembered that Wendy was quite clear in telling Alexandra that they would not use the top unit, even though she though Wendy might want the extra room. That's why she didn't do it. She is always so careful to ask what the individuals wants. Hmmn...
@janetdw Жыл бұрын
I came on to say the same thing. The client may not want the storage at this time but it seems such a shame not to have it “just in case”. My experience has always been that I’m going to need more storage. Maybe they’re super minimalists but I would’ve wanted the option of using that space. But that’s me…
@lavinder113 ай бұрын
The client didn't want it. And AG specifically said that she's losing storage space. When you work for people, you do want they want not what YOU want.
@fc46602 ай бұрын
Remember that this is a rental. The solution was elegant because it didn’t touch the ceiling. Having hinged down doors etc compromises the uniform shadow gaps between all the wood pieces.

Love this! The side tables, the pendants, the bedhead, the built in cupboard, the textured but neautral rug, the wonky mirror, the artwork, the olive tree (nudge it closer to desk please for ease of wardrobe access), the fact that the checks on the cushion match the scoring on the desk drawers, the window treatments, the whole darn thing! I was initially surprised by the black accents for the otherwise soft, neutral tones but it works in a grounding way. I was sceptical about the practicality of the desk and felt it was "unbalanced" by having drawers on one side, but the benefits of the harmonious look in the room outweigh that. Absolute Fave makeover. very tasteful and uplifting.
