I'll leave these lyrics here so you can sing along. Sad voices they're calling Our precious girl she can't be gone How bitter this morning When daddy's darling Went out and started her day Wasn't there a dream last night Like a spring never ending Still the water runs clear Through my mind On the field I can see a fiddler The fiddler on the green And the sad boy I took him too early Would you mind Would you mind Would you mind If I take you (To be with you) (To be with you) (To be with you) The sun seemed bright The air was clear The air was clear (clear) A trick of light Turned red into green She saw the light Her face was pale Her body smashed Her beauty's gone Isn't it a shame The reaper said He is quite alone here And still waiting for you Oh I really did fail for the first time Spoke the fiddler, poor old fiddler The fiddler on the green The fiddler on the green It would be nice Take my hand Just hold my hand I'll take you there Your pain will go away

I dont understand who is the sad boy in the begining
@ralflukas96952 жыл бұрын
@@S.D1010 I read this in an article of some american metal site from 2002, I think. The story is quite moving: Hansi wrote these lyrics after he witnessed two car accidents in his neighbourhood while he was walking his dog and were two young children on bicycles were killed. The first accident involved a young boy, the second a girl two weeks later. He imagined that the reaper made a mistake and took the boy before his time. The soul of the boy could not go to heaven because it was way too early and so the reaper created some kind of temporary paradise for the boy who now was stuck in limbo. The reaper desperately wants to make up for his failure and finally finds the girl that would have become the boys wife if he would not have taken him. So he appears in her dreams as a fiddler on a green pasture with the lonely boy and asks her if she would mind if he takes her too so that the boy is no longer alone. So in Hansis imagination, the reaper arranged the second accident to take the girl so that the two souls who were meant to be together in life at least are together in death and not alone anymore. Hansi Kuersch is not only a fantastic vocalist but also a fantastic lyricist.

I was waiting for the that prolonged scream in the outro solo - dreading if Hansi's going to pull if off after all the years since it was recorded - and he didn't disappoint! Such and incredible composition, lyrics - song in general! Gives me chills every time!
