THIS is the spectacle Demons and Wizards deserve! Hansi has NEVER sounded more powerful than this performance. The playing was absolutely superb by everyone involved. Those arpeggios in Fiddler are almost a song unto themselves.

The way he goes from his screams to soft singing in Fiddler is just jaw-dropping. It's almost like he's getting better with age, which with this range is almost ridiculous.

Love their live performance although I can´t help but wonder why Demons & Wizards have choirs at live performances and Blind Guardian don´t since BG songs are filled with more choir sections than D&W in studio.
@mustakettu854 жыл бұрын
could it be because BG and D&W are on different record labels?
@nathanberry48494 жыл бұрын
Simple answer = It's Wacken after a nearly 20 year absence. Go big or go home. The real answer involves who the choir is and who is on the keyboards. With Marjan Welman, John Culpers, Marcela Bovio in the choir and Joost Van Den Broek on the keyboards and Hansi on vocals... Ie; All of those people are known associates of a certain Tall Hippie Dude who writes Ridiculous Things. Wacken was in August, less than a month later, Ayreon performed Electric Castle live in Tilburg. Now, corrrelation doesn't always equal causality, but yeah, timing is everything, and when it presents the opportunity to go all out at Wacken as a side effect... duh.
@gulobramblebush4 жыл бұрын
@@nathanberry4849 the left woman is Marjan Welman (Autumn) and the right one is Marcela Bovio (ex-Stream of Passion, Mayan), both were on the same Ayreon album as Hansi. The men, I have no idea.

@Mischa van der Hout Did you perhaps not click read more? I know who everyone on that stage is and said so, and I was being cute by not mentioning Arjen by name, cause he is still a relatively obscure figure. If you know who he is, then you tend to be in the loop for these things, if you don't, like, I'm assuming the person who asked the original question, it may seem odd that the stage is so elaborate. Marcela's a monster. I've been a fan since Human Equation, and she just gets BETTER every year. It's insane how good Arjen is at picking talent.

Man the first Demons and Wizards album is legendary. Couple decent tracks on Touched by the Crimson King but many of them just didn’t stand out to me. The new single was ok on first listen but the last couple minutes felt like that old magic again. Love Schaffer and Hansi! Dryer did a nice job with the Fiddler solo too. Felt bad that Schaffer and Siepen were in easy mode and he’s going insane on his guitar lol.

Am I the only one who finds it weird that Hansi called Fiddler On The Green "a nice ballad", considering what that song is supposed to be about?
@DrDoomerVonDoomguy4 жыл бұрын
@@wowguy1243 Basically, Hansi saw two kids die when they got hit by cars. Two separate incidents, within like a week of one another. So he and Jon wrote Fiddler On The Green as a way to honor their memory.

In another video from this tour, Hansi called it a song about hope in the face of tragedy, and I was like "Yes! That is a much better description!"
