One thing that Don Waddell did I appreciated was he really took the time to talk with fans. I remember going to the box office and DW tapped me on the shoulder and thanked us for being fans. I've heard so many other similar stories where he would talk to fans about what his role was and his day to day. Even when he was out and about doing things in his personal life like grocery shopping if he saw you with Canes gear, he would stop and thank you for being a fan. He was a class act. Everyone talks about what he did or didn't do as a GM, but I will remember him for his incredibly kind spirit.

Tulsky has always been looked upon as the replacement for Waddell. I would be surprised if he doesn’t become the permanent GM, he was the meat and bones behind Carolina’s team and prospects the last 4 years. One of the analytical guys who made it all the way to the top in hockey. Fun fact: He actually started his hockey career as an analytical blogger for the Philadelphia Flyers

Based on the Athletic's NHL draft pick value the Hawks paid 6.5 GSVA and got 5.9 GSVA back which is an overpay by 10.17%. I've looked through about 20 trades moving up in the first round and compared them to the Athletic's pick value chart and generally the team moving up overpays by around 10-20%, so I'd say this is pretty fair value. It is weird to me to see the trade happening before knowing how the draft board is shaking out....if there are players who look like they'll be there at 18 and not at 20 then you trade up, but if the board is working out that several players you value about equally are there at 18 you don't need to give up the extra picks since you'll get a guy you want at 20.

I literally just posted how it was puzzling but now I at least have a thought on it. Chicago may have their eye on 1-3 specific players in the mid 1st round, and plan to trade back down if they don't get them.

This. I think Kyle from Chicago is looking to package his second 1st round pick (now No. 18) along with a pick or picks from the 2nd and 3rd rounds to move into the Top 10 . If he trades No. 18 and No. 34 (his high 2nd round pick) he will be looking to move into the Top 5-6 picks. I realize trades within the top 5-6 NHL draft picks rarely occur - just a thought.

There's been a lot of mistrust at the start of his trades and signings, but the last couple seasons, he made moves to Jake the team better (I mistyped this at first, but the pun works). @@gablefisk-govphost817 Yeah it is weird for the Hawks. I think they see the moving up a few spots is worth doing it now, especially if they are planning on moving up again. These are slightly higher now, so moving up might be easier on draft day. For the Islanders, this 100% is a trade is coming move no? Islanders might have needed that extra second either to maintain relative draft position, while moving a contract out. Or the team they've been talking with to acquire a player wants a bit more quantity and they see those 3 picks more valuable than 2.

I'm not a Hurracames fan, but I think this means that either they gonna blow things up or at least many changes are coming. Too many UFAs, head coach most likely leaving, and new GM might want to freshen up the roster and get younger. But as a Rangers fan, I know this could change quickly. When they announced a "rebuild" in NY, it only took a couple of years, and we were in the playoffs. They need to get their goalie problem fixed, though. As long as you rely on the Andersons of the world, I don't think they will get anywhere.

More like he took a team that hadn’t made the playoffs for 9 straight years and they have now won a round in all 6 years. He took a bottom dweller into a cup contender, not much of his fault that they keep running across excellent goal tenders or just randomly having their power play dry up

Because 24 teams don't get past the first round - that's 24 teams that are looking up and thinking, hey, maybe that clown could help

I expect nonsense in KZbin comments but to have 6 people upvote such total cluelessness still disappoints me.

Let’s review how the Panthers figured out Igor. First goal Fox backs down way too far and screens Igor on the first one. The second one was deflected in by Laff and the third was an empty netter. Wow, if you believe that is considered having “figured out” Igor, how can you be expected to be taken seriously?

How many goals did the Rangers get in game one? The Panthers are shooting high glove side on Igor and it generated both the first goal as well as various other scoring chances Florida had. Watch tonight as the Panthers continue going high glove.

Okay but what does "figuring Igor out" have anything to do with the rangers getting shutout lol
