Haven't got the game yet, and I'm not going to go into the details on that. Either way, I think a simple way to look at things when determining the rocket to use, is doing the following. Calculate Positive Thrust. Difficulty * Rocket weight, Subtract that from the Rocket Thrust. Then you can see how much Thrust you'll get every time you add one of those rockets, you can even mix any types of rockets. Example: You need transport a weight of 6, to a place with difficulty 3. Thrust needed = 6*3 =18 Atlas Rocket Positive Thrust = 27-3*4 = 15 Juno Rocket Positive Thrust = 4-3*1 = 1 18 = 15+1+1+1. We need 1 Atlas Rocket, and 3 Juno Rockets. Total Weight is 4+1+1+1 = 7, and Cost is 5+1+1+1 = 8. We save 2 Weight by avoiding using a Soyuz instead. If Positive Thrust is 0 the rocket adds nothing to the launch, it can only launch itself. If it's -1, it can never reach that location, adding more of that rocket will only bring you further and further away from the goal. With a Positive Thrust of 1 we can put anything into that location with the selected rocket, and it'll always aid in a cluster of rockets, even though it's not always economical to stick with that rocket. A question about the rules though. Is there an finite amount of rockets/equipment allowed into the game? Or is the amount just enough to usually to avoid items running out of stock?

The items are not finite if you ever run out you find suitable replacement, this should be rare though.

Nicely done! I would suggest going just a bit slower when adding up the rocket weights but a really well done program. Thank you for your effort! I will now subscribe!!

Awesome. This was really helpful.

I love your Leaving Earth videos. One question though, would you not factor in the cost of the Rendezvous advancement into the cost savings? It's still cheaper mind.

So making calculation for going from a to b and that's it? Where is the game? Asking as a former math student, who do not mind having math in his games (18xx, ...)

Before actually using all those rockets you need to research them. If you want to push your luck and fly without enough research, you risk that they explode. But mechanics could prevent that. Then there are other hazardous events (explained in the part 1 video) and a small bluffing element of sacrificing a ship in order to withhold information from the other players. Research costs a lot of money and therefore takes time. The first few years no one is probably flying at all, just blowing up rockets. But once the first player (who got lucky during research) starts actually pursuing the goals, it becomes an actual space race. Do you end your research and start hunting victory points as well or do you play it safe?
