Wagakki Band was started in 2013 by poet, pianist, composer and shigin singer Yuko Suzuhana. They quickly became popular and are today an arena band that fills large arenas and halls in Japan. If you react to more, you must not miss these two songs: Wagakki Band - 戦-ikusa- + 拍手喝采 (Hakushu Kassai)/ Dai Shinnenkai 2018 Ashita e no Koukai [ENG SUB CC]

Wa-gakki means traditional instruments and I love the way this incredible band mix trad with Metal and Rock. Beni shredding on that shamisen is amazing and it apparently takes a lot of practice to get a note from the shakuhachi flute, let alone shred on it like he does here. PS Band-Maid released a new MV yesterday and there's the whole of their Lollapalooza concert on YT right now!

This was a Wagakki Band concert. Their concerts always draw very large crowds. This band is one of the most popular in Japan (in my opinion). It is mostly popular with adults. Thank you for your reaction. More Wagakki Band on the channel! :)

Hi Jeremy! Great reaction! I love this band. It helps when the musicians who play the traditional instruments are considered "masters" of those particular instruments in Japan. This is one band that I would love to see live. From what I've seen, they put on a show for both the ears and the eyes. Over the years, not very many bands have been able to blend traditional and modern styles so seamlessly as the Wagakki Band does. Keep up the good work, and I love your Saturday shows. Peace!

WagakkiBand is my most fav. they do solo concerts 2-3 hours long and always get a full-house crowd, ... just for them. they are master musicians.

The guitarist's masque at the beginning was / is used in traditional Noh theatre, a classical Japanese dance-drama that has been performed since the 14th century (see Wikipedia). It indicates the character of the role. The characters painted on the back of the (modern) drummer indicate the name of the venue 😇

The only crossovers I'm aware of between Wagakki Band and Babymetal is that when Yuko Suzuhana, Wagakki Band's vocalist and occasional pianist, released her solo album several years ago, she performed it live in studio with a guitarist called Leda Cygnus (or just Leda). He's one of the usual guitarists from Babymetal's backing band, the Kami Band. When Yuko introduced him, she referenced Leda playing in the Kami Band by saying she was used to seeing him with white on his face. In addition, the modern drummer from Wagakki Band, Wasabi (what a stage name!), has covered "Megitsune" on his channel. There are a few similarities between Babymetal and Wagakki Band. They're both fusion groups that got really big really fast. They've both played at Budokan multiple times whereas other groups that you've seen and that I love such as LOVEBITES, BAND-MAID, Nemophila, and Gacharic Spin have yet to attain that honor, though BAND-MAID was invited and the pandemic canceled it.

I was an online friend (Alliance Leader) with Suzuka from Baby Metal for a time. She was an absolute sweetheart but other than an open invitation to our members to see them live when they toured close to us, she preferred to not talk much about the music. The game we played was her escape. If you want a crossover, check out Bring Me To Life WITH Amy Lee. Its incredible.

They are somewhat unknown in the US, but are considered a SuperGroup in Japan. All of the members are master's at their instruments and award winners in Japan, plus several of them are teachers of their instruments. Yuko, the singer is the founder and teaches piano.

PEOPLE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT DUAL LEAD GUITAR PLAYING BUT RARELY DO PEOPLE CATCH THE FANTASTIC DRUM INTERPLAY ON THEIR 1RST WGGAKI BAND VIEWING. MOST PEOPLE GET CAUGHT UP IN THE FLUTE, SHAMISEN AND KOTO. YUKO IS SINGING IN A TRADITIONAL STYLE HERE. MY THEORY IS THAT IT IS VERY CLOSE TO OTHER WORLDS AND DIMENTIONS. YUKO PLAYS PIANO JUST LIKE MIYAKO OF LOVEBITES. WB HAS BEEN 1 OF THE LEADERS IN BRINGING FOLK INSTRAMENTS TO METAL. BEATLES, ACDC, JETHRO TULL FROM THE PAST. NOW WE HAVE OTYKEN, BLOODYWOOD, THE HU, NIGHTWISH AND MORE BANDS.

Lets try and answer a few questions. Wagakki is a generic term for Japanese traditional instruments. BabyMetal for many years has used the Kami Band. Kami means God. BabyMetal and the Kami Band have never used traditional Japanese musical instruments when playing live. BabyMetal may have a couple of tracks that have them but when they play live, that sound is on track. It seems that some of your requesters have muddled up things with regard to BabyMetal. The Wagakki Band have never played with BabyMetal. The Koto is the harp instrument. The Shamisen, is the three string guitar. The plectrum used is called a Bachi. The flute is called a Shakuhachi. The drums are called Taiko. I believe there are different names for some of these instruments but the names I used as examples are the popular ones. The style of singing that Yuko uses is a traditional poem singing style called Shigin. The Waggaki Band, have been established for years. There is not really sufficient superlatives to describe them. They have played live on stage with an Orchestra. You can imagine the wall of sound that would make. Many of their songs do have a 'sound' you can recognise as the Wagakki Band but they can turn their hand to any musical style really.

Wagakki is a Superband of the highest order and a top 5 Live act worldwide. Every concert in Japan what features Wagakki is sold out. All 8 members are handpicked by vocalist Yuko the founder of Wagakki. Machiya the guitarplayer has the last word in productions and he writes 50% of the tunes. If you wanna check out more WGB just go to Frank Garcia or CCW KZbin channels. They have Wagakki full coverd and never get blocked. Just pick a song and listen and watch. They are all great. Otherwise you should listen what Dr.Acula says about them in the comments he is the real pro when it comes to Wagakki.

Another Berlin celebrity is "Rummelsnuff", a gay bodybuilder and former doorman of Germany's once most famous club, the "Berghain". I recommend his song "Freier Fall" (Free Fall) about fighting one's inner demons. Rummelsnuffs focus is on German workers' and sailors' songs of the 1930s. A nice example is the MV (better than several live versions) of "Salzig schmeckt der Wind" (Salty Tastes The Wind). Maybe you'll also like his cover version of Daddy Cool (again the MV is better than several live versions).

I recommend the band "Knorkator" from Berlin, Germany, and their song "Ich lass mich klonen" (I let clone myself). Knorkator play heavy metal and pogo. The are very anarchic and satirical and call themselves "the most band of the world" (makes no sense in German either). "knorke" (cool, good, great) is a typical word used mostly in Berlin, but little known in other German regions. The singer, stage name "Stumpen" (tree stump guy), is a trained opera singer and you may expect a little surprise in the middle of the song. Enjoy! Another typical Knorkator song is "Absolution" (LIVE @ Summer Breeze Open Air 2015). The lyrics consist of about 25 sex related words in invented fake Latin brilliantly sung by Stumpen to church organ music. It starts with "sodomie, erectio, vulvae, etc.". It's the closer of the concert and the band gives absolution to the audience for all their sex sins. 😂🤪

If you want to talk, pause the video, it will be better for you in the long run. Just curious, did you here (I think his name is Kurona ) announce the bassist's name?
