About Misa's capture, i think we can assume that Mogi (the big guy, one of the Task Force members tasked with tailing Light everywhere he goes) saw Misa entering & leaving Light's house, sometimes during zombie hours, so i think that is already a sign of her being a prime suspect. And when they searched Misa's room (like they did to the other suspects as well), the Task Force found incriminating evidence such as stamps like the ones used to mail the Kira tapes to Sakura TV, a pen with the same ink, and a notebook with paper like the paper sent with the tapes. They also found receipts for train tickets from Nagano and Tokyo (the places the tapes were sent from), as well as flower pollen from flowers that grew in the area Misa previously lived in (the flowers happen to be a type that is not found in Kantou). Those are the more detailed info from the manga. And also about Misa forgetting Light, Rem has mentioned this before the memory-wipe at 26:07, she assured Misa that her feelings for Light will not go away and that she will simply forget that Light is Kira. She can just have feelings for him out of love that she's been developing, and not because Light was the murderer of her parent"s murderer

28:48 this is the thing with paranormal stuff, unless you absolutely know about it your brain tries to keep thinking of "known" ways to explain something. A person who is less smart, would believe in the supernatural instantly, while a smart one would doubt it unless proven 100%. So lets say if it was someone who saw Misa's hair floating, they might assume its a ghost. While since L is smart, even if he hasn't ruled out the possibility that ghosts could exist, his brain would probably force him to rule out other reasons first...that is why L starts from a massive disadvantage, you cannot imagine what you don't know. It is too difficult.

Guys come on. You are forgetting about the cassettes. The ones that the chief brought back from the station. They were brought back to L. L gave them to Aizawa to run lab tests on them. So they found the hair and the other stuff left behind in those wrapped up cassette messages that Misa had sent to the station. Dna basically. They had all the time to do this cause its been a while. No wonder they ended up finding out about Misa.

I'll clarify the Second Kira arrest since it won't be explained again: 1/ They harvested the genetic evidence from the video tapes because Misa physically prepared them. She can't hand them over to her associate and risk them being watched, so it would've been logical for her to package them up by herself and have the other person mail it at the office. Several hair strands falling into the package is a bit over the top, but it's very possible for her skin tissues to get stuck on the adhesive so we can forgive that little leap of faith. 2/ L became strongly suspicious of the two Kiras having met up very early on, and he's also strongly suspicious of Light being the first Kira, so naturally he would want to monitor Light to check for ALL contact that he can possibly make. Misa naturally is one of them. At this point you just have to investigate every single person who makes contact with Light for their DNA and make the comparison. It is not a guarantee that monitoring Light would yield positive results when it comes to the Second Kira investigation (after all, he only knew they made contact because they ALREADY had done so and there's no guarantee they would meet again, especially if you consider how insistent Light was about not making further contact), which is why L considered this a risky move, but he knew he had to do something because the two Kiras teaming up can only mean bad things for him sooner rather than later. This is also why it was said that the Second Kira operated differently from the first. Light would never have made any physical evidence, much less send them directly into police custody. I don't know why Light didn't follow this line of reasoning to its natural conclusion and try to eliminate those tapes, but I can forgive that slight oversight. I want to share my personal headcanon: I think that L initiated the Misa investigation as soon as they met for the first time on campus. I know that Mogi had been ordered to tail Light and check his associates, but I don't remember if he could've seen Misa at some point, so I like to believe that they scrambled to search her place when L sent the signal and L had to do his best to buy time meanwhile. Otherwise, stealing the phone or even showing up at school was a bit unnecessary. I suspect that L went to school with the intention of baiting Light into letting him meet the Second Kira because otherwise Light would be incentivized to keep her hidden, and the investigation would go nowhere. If he dangled his life in front of Light, there would be a decent chance Light would take the bait and L would outmaneuver him before getting himself killed. To his surprise, a strange girl showed up who had an "atypical" reaction to his name, which was probably why he seemed so intrigued/happy.

Mogi was spying Light, and he also commented "First Takada, and then this one? How many fianceé do you need, Light?".

L morals? I hope you are joking. He literally make a guy to appear on TV under L`s name just to see if he dies. He put cameras in house of civilians including the bathroom. And if you didnt notice, he tied up a schoolgirl for a few days and literally tortured her to make her confess. Thats not moral at all. L triying to make a better world because of his morals and end up killing not outlaws but innocent people who trying to catch him. L and police trying to enforce law and end up torturing a kid.

I can see where you're coming from, but Misa isn't a kid. She's 19, still young, but legally she is a kid. I don't think what L did was right, but at the same time he's positive she was the second Kira, someone who has killed people. Again, doesn't make it right, but it's also meant to show that L and Light are similar that they would both to anything for their sense of "justice"

Just to clarify: Misa is not "a schoolgirl", she's older than Light (I think she's 26 or 27), she just seems younger because of anorexia and that's why she's a famous idol (Japanese people tend to like young girls more than adult women... sad, but true). But all the rest you just wrote is 100% correct. Even if Lind L. Taylor was a convinct which execution was scheduled for the same day in which he gave his famous tv speech...

They did have strong evidence against her, while I hate the way they contained her, what else were they supposed to do? We saw how she was clearly trying to end herself, they also thought she could escape as they had no idea what she could do. They just somehow needed a confession. They didn't have anything strong to arrest Light though and Misa's confession was everything they could depend on at this point.
