Such a great line by Nemo: "Since you invaded their privacy, they have every right to invade ours."

It's like he was actually expecting Ned to attempt an escape and be chased back to the Nautilus by cannibals.

Fun fact: Kirk Douglas' little fall from 0:50-0:54 wasn't scripted. It came when the crew forgot to put sandbags in the skiff to weight it down so when Douglas went to row, it wasn't as heavy and he fell backwards. It was kept in because the director thought it was funny

I wonder if this scene was the inspiration for Captain Jack Sparrow being chased by cannibals in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

I like how Captain Nemo is so calm and nonchalant, seeming quite to handle the gravity of the situation without panicking, while Ned and Conseil, on the other hand, are so hysterical. It's like he was expecting Ned to attempt an escape and be chased back to the Nautilus by cannibals. To be fair, Nemo did warn them about the cannibals and to stay on the beach so as to avoid them, but Ned deliberately disobeyed him and ignored his warning. Ned did have a strong desire to escape, just as Nemo had predicted earlier before he let them go ashore.

There was a pair of local extras during the filming of the chase part, where one had on his face “Eat at Joe’s” Another two or three behind him had “I Ate Joe” painted on their faces. The director had a good laugh at that joke.

I like how the row boat was apart of the submarine, as if it was a secret compartment. Sucks Disney World did away with this great ride! :( ...but, I can understand if it was costing lots of $ to maintain, still sucks though, as I never got a chance to ride it. I guess that's what youtube's for, viewing videos of it on here..

One would think being chased back by cannibals would've been punishment enough, but Captain Nemo decided to punish Ned anyway by locking him up in the brig.

The novel and the film both have it as the southern coast of Papua New Guinea up against the Torres Strait and the mouth of the Fly River. The tribe that lives there in real life is the Kiwai while the book and movie emphasize war shields and bird-of-paradise feather headdresses as seen on the Asmat. The novel even has them stop to perform a war dance to frighten them before attacking, giving them the time they need to escape before the canoes get broken out.

Notice that just as Ned reaches the boat at 0:47 you can begin to hear the Gilligan's Island theme. Do you think that inspired the song or even the series in any way? After all Ned had just done something rather foolish which was the concept that defined Gilligan's personality during the show's entire run.
