Fun fact: Green Lantern actually was originally meant to go to Great America as a few track pieces started to arrive and people spotted the track near Eagle. But the plan was scrapped and it went to Great Adventure instead.

Closing Kingda Ka means loosing the world’s tallest drop tower to go along with Green Lantern. This means that SFGAdv would loose 3 different rides at the same time if closed permanently.

If they are to remove both, Imo the best route is remove green lantern and start work on the new attractions footers and general site during 2025 then remove Kingda Ka end of 2025 for a 2027 new ride. To remotely come close to replacing Kingda Ka they're gonna need a giga or strata. Be it a b&m with a chain or an Intamin lsm coaster

its quite surprising to me and a little sad. ive gone to great adventure multiple times every summer since 2018. ironically, green lantern is what got me to love roller coasters, as it was my first thrill ride. Kingda Ka is what really surprised me though, we all saw it coming but not this soon. anyways though, keep up the good work. this is one of the most authentic and original coaster channels on the platform rn.

IMO this means they're giving Ka the Top thrill treatment. They would need the room for the spike, green lantern isn't liked by a lot of people, and they could still fit a ride in the rest of the Green Lantern plot where the reverse spike doesn't take up space.

Great Adventure local here. I can say I would be SHOCKED if Kingda Ka closes anytime soon despite the rumors. It's in a similar position as TTD in Cedar Point. You can't just close it, it's too iconic to the park and doesn't have near the issues that TTD did. Plus, Zumanjaro is attached. Green Lantern is one of the most disposable coasters in the lineup though and few would miss it. It's regarded as the worst major coaster in the park. So I think it either gets removed for a TTD2 treatment OR a completely new coaster with a smaller footprint. But mark my words, this gets removed before Ka does...

I shed no tears for Green Lantern. It was a one-and-done for me.: it is a head-banging migraine machine. I had hoped that they would make it floorless with better restraints. Where ever it goes, I hope that they make it floorless. Kingda Ka closing is still a punch in the gut. I might get down there next weekend and try to get to ride it again.

La Ronde is my home park (unfortunately...) and, at the current state of the park, just bring Green Lantern over; it's not as bad as the "previous" Green Lantern we were supposed to get. I never really enjoyed that roller coaster at SFGA as it was quite rough, but as you said, it'd be funny as hell replacing Cobra with it! 😂A real slap in the face!

Mark Shapiro was planning on sending Chang to Great America and putting it at the front of the park, but after he was canned the interim CEO wisely stopped that plan at the last minute and with feedback from the parks management they decided to expand the waterpark instead. It was sent to Great Adventure as a last minute "here have this" thing.

I went on it in 2021. I hated it. The head banging gave me a headache. The only ride I can compare it to is mine blower at fun spot. I’ve been on pipeline before and that is a much better standing coaster imo.

Despite that, at Great Escape and Darien Lake, a coaster like Green Lantern could be the center piece, especially at Great Escape considering there is nothing there in way of inversions except for a 25 year old boomerang and 45 year old loop-screw.

Great Adventure is my home park but let's be very honest here. If Kingda ka were at any park and they were to take it down without there being a rhyme or reason, parks will take a huge hit and park officials will not be able to live it down. People for many years to come to the park asking "Where is Kingda ka?" "oh it closed because of budget cuts, so that Six Flags execs get an extra million dollar bonus" Yeah that will not cut it. Green Lantern needs to go to another park with new trains. An RMC needs to be in that plot of land. But oops Cedar fair isn't working with RMC. Oops Cedar Fair doesn't work with Intamin to reimagine Kingda Ka. Let's hope that the 49% of Legacy Six Flags still has a say otherwise it's not looking good for American parks in the future.

So. Someone who has some Intel on the park told me a few things. First. Kingda Ka is safe for the foreseeable future. It's ridership is high enough to justify continued operation. Second. The skyride is likely on its way out. Third. Green Lantern is scheduled for removal. But Six Flags isn't sure when, because they haven't figured out where it'll be Relocated to. This is NOT 100% facts. This is just what I heard

They should solve the issue with the tower and the top spin (new top spin and transform the tower onto somethign like the toy story tower at Disneyland Paris). Then, show wht are they going to build at the KdK and Green Lantern area, and close both. If you do not show why you are closing them, the GP are going to get mad... An option I was thinking is that KdK may have the TTD treatment, and have a swing launch. And because the tower should be at the position where a turnaround of Green Lanter is, the may have to reprofile it... And with that reprofile, maybe they shut down the coaster and scrap it, because the reprofile is not worth it.

Since I’ve been on this ride twice just for the ride, I kinda like it but it always is a ear basher and gives me a near headache and so some of us don’t like it because of that. It’s the restraints really to say the least. So I’m happy that it’s closing and another can go in its place. But sad that Kingda Ka is closing cuz I finally got on that with my friend one day we were there.

I'll be going to Gadv to marathon Ka on Halloween. 6 hr drive for 5 hrs of Ka. Gotta love it

I was there for may first ever visit on July 5th and both Lantern and Ka were closed. Perhaps they were secretly evaluating the outrage and monitoring how it would go over if both were closed and the results were better than expected. I personally didn't think much of, with Cedar Point as my home park, I'm pretty familiar with how it was sort of like winning a lottery to get on Dragster. I was actually more disappointed about GL, because I had been on Chang and thought it was quite good- was looking forward to seeing how it held up. Trying to throw together a return visit in November.

I am honestly glad I got my re rides on Green Lantern, even if I don’t like it, nice to get final rides on it.

So I was just a great adventure about 5 hours ago King da Ka was open 90% of the day I spoke to an employee I asked about Ka he said he could not deny nor confirm the rumors as he's now aloud to say but he did say that green latern is done for good and so is zumenjaro.

Worlds of Fun, Darien Lake, or Michigan's Adventure as a sitdown/floorless with a floor (Wildfire SDC trains) would make sense. Raptor at Cedar Point just did its 30th season, so...

i would love it going to Darien Lake... I live about 1 1/2 hrs from Great Adventure and have also been to Darien lake.. A very uncared for park from Six Flags.

The only reason this ride isnt fun is because of how uncomfortable the train is. If B&M somehow made a better version and replaced the old trains, i would absolutely ride it again.

Great adventure has always been my home park, and I am very happy to hear this news. Stand up coasters are inherently uncomfortable, for the groin area and the shoulder restraints cause head banging for me, but I don’t think it’s that bad…but Green Lantern also throws in a nasty rattle that give me a headache. That’s why I stopped riding it, so I can’t be sad if it goes, especially if was replaced with something cool like a wing launch coaster. Kingda Ka on the other hand, is devastating and can’t be replaced smh.

Relocate Green lateen to Darien lake and put it where the Go karts are. For green laterns replacement a bunch of unique flat rides ( like the stuff you’d see at Canada’s wonderland )

There is no way this is also happening, that's crazy. Green Lantern was like the 2nd best B&M traditional Standup. I love Rougarou and this has almost the exact seam layout but even better because it has a extra corkscrew and its not even bad for aa standup. Why on earth is the park removing theses such good rides?

Removing both these coasters at the same time would be a multi year project. If we got a new coaster in their places it wouldn’t be for another 3 year with all the work that would need to be done

Darien Lake is my homepark and I think Green Lantern would be a great addition to the park as a floorless, it would compliment Viper Nicely. But, don't forget EPR Properties still own the park and I wonder if they'll accept the coaster, they have been putting money into the park the past couple of years with Titan Track on Predator, new track on Boomerang, and a refurb on Mind Eraser for next year, so maybe the coaster would do the park good, and it would be something Canada's Wonderland doesn't have. What's also ironic, is that Darien also had a Stand-up (the old Batman: The Escape from Astroworld Intamin Stand-up) and it was sitting in storage across the street for years before finally being scrapped.
