Wait, the RTX 3070 is finally affordable

The 3070 I had was an insane card when I was gaming at 1080p. When I replaced my old, dead 1080p monitor with a new 1440p monitor a year and a half ago, I began to run into VRAM limitations and being rather picky about visual quality in gaming, I replaced it with an RX 7900 XT for much less money ($700 on a one-day special) than the 3070's price during the gpu crunch. Nvidia has made and still makes bad decisions in being miserly about VRAM on it's graphics cards, essentially truncating the life of their card's usefulness in gaming. The extra features of cards below an RTX 4070 Ti become less attractive when a card can nearly become obsolete within a few months, given the escalating demands of many of today's and tomorrow's games.

Yeah & unlike the CS/Forknife/APEX etc. players with limited brain capacity think not everybody plays FPShooters needing high fps & not caring about how details looks, many people who play Simulators or Turnbased games priorotise Image Quality over Frame Rate (other than frametime consistency) for immersion the VRAM situation is made worse by the fact that people who spent less on a 3060 don't have that same problem.

I still find 3070 8gb is good even for 4k in most games, just have to dial back textures a little in newer titles but I was just playing Forbidden West 4k HDR DLSS balanced 80-100fps with most things in high

Yeah, Nvidia kinda made it very confusing (maybe, on purpose) in their DLSS 3 announcement. DLSS 3 includes improvements to their upscaling tech so it gives better image quality, AND it also includes frame generation tech, but the frame generation part is not supported by RTX 30 series. The general improvements to the upscaler in DLSS 3 are supported by the RTX 30 series.

I'm buying RX 6800 for $250, double the RAM, slightly faster depending on the game. For 8 GB cards, RX 6700 XT for $200 is close second. RTX 3070 is a good alternative to newer Nvidia cards in the price range.

An RX 6700 XT for $200 is what I buy when RX 6800 are above $250. The problem with the RTX 2080 Ti is they usually go for more than the RTX 3070, which makes them a hard recommendation compared to the AMD cards. RX 6800 XTs are even going for 2080 Ti prices usually now.

8GB but its GDDR6x so its speed + bandwidth makes for its shortcoming. 3070 is a RTX 2080 Ti. You'll love that Vision, its a good card. I've had my used 3090 Vision 2 years going now, no issues.

There's never a good reason to buy new NVIDIA graphics cards. Their early adopters always buy the new card. You can buy their used 70/80/90 series cards that NUKE their same price new counterparts in performance. Sorting used + sold items on Ebay, 12GB 3080s and 3080 Ti's are going for ~$320 to ~$420 shipped all the time. A 3080 or 3080 Ti obliterates the 4060 and 4060 Ti, and they're just about neck-and-neck if not better than the $600 4070. It isn't until you get to the ~$900 4070 Ti Super that you're getting something that matches or very narrowly beats the ~$750 3090 Ti. It has never been a better time to be a used gamer than now because of the post-mining crash, post-pandemic overstock liquidation, the jump from DDR4 to DDR5, and the launch of the X3D chips. You can build a fucking incredible

I have a 3070 and I use it for 4k 120 in Fortnite. I did get mine back when it launched for MSRP, so I got great value for money. It still runs like a champ and is a great all around card. I would recommend it any day for any use case except super high refresh AAA. That's not happening at ultra setting lol.

I love the 3070. It's become my favourite card to use for flipping PCs. Everytime I price out a brand new 4060 build, I always find myself replacing the 4060 with a used 3070 and come up with a cheaper build that performs better. The 6700/6750XT are usually around the same price and also work well but are harder to sell so I shy away from those as a PC flipper but I'll always recommend those GPUs over the 4060.

Another listing said they'd accept $215 that I offered, but unfortunately they got back to me the same day I was already buying the other card, and it wasn't possible to backtrack or cancel. Love the build. I would consider a 6750xt as an alternative. You can get them 300 new and are basically equal to a 3070 in raster. Gives you more vram and might last a little longer. Especially since it would be a new GPU.

I have to agree with a lot of the commenters, yes it's finally a pretty good price for this card but you can find better options for the same $$ or a bit more going with AMD cards like the 6700\6750xt, same cost or even a bit cheaper, almost the same performance but with 12gb, 6800 around the same cost, faster, 16gb, 6800xt, a bit more expensive but much faster and 16gb, IMO the best card to buy right now is the 6950xt for 420$ from Asrocks Amazon store.

Depends on the market. Rx 6700 xt is now out of stock here in the Philippines and used markets aren't good here. The 6700, 6750 xt and 6800 weren't sold here so the option left is the rtx 3070. However, the rx 7700 xt is priced the same as the 3070 here.

Dang, you got a great deal on such a beautiful card! I also agree with your comparison to the 4060. For some (possibly psychological) reason I'd go for a 3070 over a 4060 any day. With that budget, are you really going to game on 1440p or just say on 1080p? My guess would be that with such a budget, you're not going to spend a third of the price of the pc, on a monitor. A 1080p 75 Hz or 140 Hz will be fine. So, PC is about $600 and the monitor is about $150. For the complete budget pack - let's say your total budget is about $850. You would need to spend about $1000 to get a laptop with a mobile RTX4060. It's a steal!

A friend is sending me this card for shipping cost which is only $70 since they’re upgrading to a better card, been needing to switch out the 2060 super… just have to check my current power supply!

I have a friend who streams on 3 platforms, runs games at 1080 on an R5, 3070 system and it gets along just fine.He paid through the nose during Crypto crisis but he has always been happy with it. He is starting to see some VRam struggles. Dragons Dogma 2 stomped his system but most of the things he plays he is happy as a lark. It's not something I would buy. Even as an emergency purchase I would go with a 6600 until I could replace it but I run a 7900XTX and it will be replaced with another one or a 4080 Super.

The 3070 would be a great 1440p GPU if it had more VRAM, 8GB is turning into a growing problem as time goes on, and it sometimes makes ray tracing a bad idea because that uses a lot of VRAM. A 6700 XT/6750 XT will without a doubt age better and the signs are already showing. The VRAM issue is definitely part of why used prices for 3070s are falling. (The fact that the 3070 Ti also only has 8gb is just insulting)
