The story behind this idiom is that a farmer was working the fields one day, and saw a rabbit bashing into a tree and killing itself. He took the rabbit home to cook and was very proud to have come across such a delicious opportunity. Therefore, the next day, rather than working the fields, he sat by the tree hoping for another rabbit to do the same thing- which clearly didn't happen. The moral is that there is no getting away from diligence and hard work, and you shouldn't hold out for an unlikely opportunity, but rather make your own opportunities by working hard. ⁠⠀

Queztion: why is there English verbal translation? Cuz it interrupts the flow of listening to chinese. We can read the eng subs for meaning. Know what I mean?
